Specifically thought of you on this one since we seem to be utilizing FB marketing quite a bit.

This afternoon, I started a new boost.

Targeting market: Indiana Females within a 50 mile radius of several major cities; so to basically include all surrounding cities from the major markets.

Text:

So, you mustered up the courage and finally 'popped' the question.

She looked at you with amazement, her cheeks covered with tears and said YES!!

You've told your family & friends. Selected your date. And, of course, made it FB official. :)

Now, it's onto the planning of your big day. We can help in the planning/coordination of the reception and we can certainly make your venue POP with color and style. Let's partner together and make it happen!

I didn't limit to a status (aka in a relationship, engaged, etc.), knowing that some don't change it on FB and just post a pic. I wanted to hit all females, hoping to get in front of any newly-engaged or friends of theirs.

So far, I've spent $1.48 and it's reached 616 ladies. I've received 6 inquiries and it's been shared 23 times. Two I'm working on closing for the last few dates I have available. Two that were tire-kicking and I didn't have anything close within their budget. 1 booked to another jock I recommended who started kicking me $150 this year. 1 appears to book with another jock.

My online stats are exploding as well. Not really sure why I did the boost because I had so few dates to book, but I had a brain-fart with targeting on FB and wanted to test my theory. So far, so good, I'd say.

Wow. That is INCREDIBLE response. You created an emotional narrative. I've been selling widgets. I gotta make an adjustment. What type of ad did you take out? (Likes, website link, offer claim, etc.) I also tend to agree to not use the relationship status. I think it's not a good indicator. I do limit to geography, gender and am experimenting with age range. Was doing 20-35 but have expanded that to mid-50s in order to catch MOBs (who find vendors a lot of the time).

was it a post from your business page? I am guessing? And how much of your "proven verbiage" can I steal? lol

I made a post, then 'Boosted' that post.

Ah, probably better than what I've been doing. I've been creating ad campaigns, not just boosting posts. The problem I've run into is that actual ad campaigns don't seem to have the flexibility to create ads that directly get leads in. Either you're going after page likes, or getting clicks over to your website. It's too passive. The way you're doing it is likely much better, just create a posting with the sales pitch, attach a graphic (coupon), and I believe you can include a web link as well. Then just pay to boost it to an audience.

My wife has noticed that posts to the biz page get virtually ZERO eyeballs. She posted a "Best ring shots of 2015" yesterday and let it sit for 7 hours with zero likes. She then went and posted the same thing to her her personal page and had 40+ in less than an hour. I think this platform has a lot more potential but it has to be mined a very specific way. Thanks for sharing what you found out. I think I'll go try one of those today.

Randy, I'm copying you. Not just stealing your idea (and verbage) but I'm doing a 2-week post boost to see if this method works across the board or to see if it's a fluke to your market. I'd like to compare notes with you (and anyone else who wants to follow suit) and let's see if we can all help each other out to hone it down to the most effective method we can find.

In looking back, some of my most successful craigslist ads were where I painted a visual, just like you did. I've somehow diverted my approach and fallen into the "talking about my product" pitch instead of tapping emotion. I took your great opening visual, tweaked the wording slightly, then made a post on my business page with a coupon photo included (offering a $250 discount). I boosted it with a $50, two-week run, my geographical area, women 20-55 (to catch MOBs), interests which include several "wedding" keywords, and either single/in-a-relationship/engaged. Here is a copy of the boosted post.

I currently have 649 likes, which are mostly that same target audience that I've built with "Get Likes" ads over the past several months. Not sure if this boosted post will hit my existing "Liked" users or if it will deliver to a completely different audience. I hope you won't mind me using your opening visual. If you do, just say the word and I'll pull it, create my own, and keep the results to myself. If it's okay with you though, I'd like to run this, then compare notes to see if we come up with similar results. I think if several guys here would run their own version, and coordinate results, we might be able to help each other out. What do you think?

Guys .... I think I've found the SWEET spot! Two more just now. Although both I'll be recommending another DJ since I'm already booked, but still...my website stats are blowing up!
Thanks Randy for sharing.

BTW .. shoot for more than 55 yo for a MOB. I know quite a few that will be or have been 60+ when their kids get married. Many are starting later these days.

Thanks Steve for reminding me that I'm getting old!

Well, since I and my wife are already past that age, when our kids get married (1 is close), we'd miss out on the Facebook postings if they were 55 and under.

ok, I jumped on the bandwagon. Did a $50 boost and made this post> On my business page BTW

I assume Randy trademarked those words and is looking for royalty payments now ... :)

I'm just hoping he's up for some collaboration on this FB ad thing. My gut tells me this has got some huge potential for it and if we all pitch in, collectively, I think we can get farther down the road, and much quicker, than any of us trying to do it alone. Incidentally, I just got off the phone with a prospect I'd spoke with a couple of weeks ago. Her wedding is 1-29-16 (yes, 3 weeks out) and she's meeting me on Thursday to pay me, in full, in cash ($1900) for 2 photographers with 1 of us switching off to photobooth duty during the reception. Oh yea, and it's at Opryland Hotel, where we shot/DJed about 6 weeks ago. If I remember correctly, this prospect also came off a FB ad.

Something about that "My award winning" line is too sales-pitchy (no offense). I think I've got somewhat the same problem;

We can help make this part much easier, less expensive and you'll finally have that day that every girl dream of having. Let's partner together and make it happen!

I keep thinking the "let's partner together" is a good pitch but it also needs to be phrased as a question (proposal) while avoiding turning the conversation back to ourselves (and away from the Bride's big announcement). Anybody want to take a shot at tweaking it?

FB posts don't all get seen by all our fans/friends. I don't like that but it's a practical solution - if you've got 500 friends and they post twice a day you'll be so buried you'll never see/read any posts.

so it works off 'engagement' - i see every ledbetter fudge post...no way am I customer being hundreds of miles away but we interract in FB so that's an 'engagement'.

Where i see larger business posts is when someone likes it then it shows on their page and THEIR friends like it. Viral marketing at it's best. You can't make that happen.

And the only way for the posts to be seen is those fans have to keep in touch with you...and you need some way to make that happen.

I gave up blogging years ago and mvoed to FB - no activity on the blog because nobody cared. I see very little engagement with my wedding stuff UNLESS it's the week following the wedding itself. Sneak peeks and such.

On the Dj side...nada. I try to post once or twice a week, and not all 'about me' posts.

When i've boosted posts I see a big jump in 'hits' of all kinds...yet to turn that into money in my pocket though.
