Do you use a facade?

I as well use the table topper. I have never run into an instance where I couldn't use it even though I have been in some small spaces. You can adjust to fit over whatever table you are using. If you do weddings, I really think a facad is a must. If you do more schools and clubs, then it is up to you.

I use the topper too. I also built a few custom made ones made simply from pvc piping and cloth. About $15 worth of stuff.

For me, a facade should not cut off access from guests, but simply make the over all presentation look more elegant and professional by covering wires and backs of equipment.

As mentioned above, I think it's more important for these things at weddings and corporate gigs where appearance is more important.

No, not at this time. Planning on using something in the near future.

Maybe a picket fence or some razor wire?:sqerr::sqwink::sqwink:

Just a 6' folding (in half) table with a black drape for me.

10x6 slant top rack case holds all gear with no cables showing, and my cd-case sits next to it on one side.

All that's on the other is my wireless receiver unit and my request book and list for guests.

Its as clean as can be.

I just don't like the idea of the booth personally. I like being open to the room, and aesthetically I think they're somewhat of an eyesore at best, and garish at worst.

Different strokes for different blokes!

If the DJ Skirts Table Topper counts as a facade, then "yes".

:)

Yes I use a facade, and really don't feel like I'm hiding behind it. I really don't feel like it cuts off access to me anymore than a table does. Come around to the side or up to the front, I'll be there. Also a facade is a great deterrent for guest wanting to set a drink on your table which always happened before I started using a facade. I have had a couple of people reach over with a drink , but a WTF look while they are looking where to set it, and they usually take it elsewhere

You see, it would drive the J Mac nuts, I think. He's 6' and we hardly ever agree on things when it comes to height. :(

Then again, maybe a facade that is just tall enough to cover the CD cases would work. Then again, we use a tall rack on a table. I'm also thinking that the facade might require even more space than we get. As it stands now, we've been running into venues this year where lighting is impossible to use due to low space. There was even one event where we had to lie our speakers under the 8' table that the venue provided!

I'm ranting now. I guess I've really gotta think more about the whole facade thing. I guess that's why I'm kinda curious as to who uses them. :sqembarrassed:

Most facades are only 4 feet tall. Just enough to cover the table and most of the average rack. You've seen mine in the other thread, basic black carpet Grundorf up against a 4 foot table (trying to find a 5 footer...anybody?). I'm not a fan of the aluminum framed ones (no offense John) and I considered the table topper, but in the end it's more work.
I do want a longer one (mine is 5 feet), so I can do cut outs on the bottom to slide the backs of the L1s into. Similar to Mike's and Cap's and I think Dave's.

Facades are great but they also need to cover up the tripod speaker stands. I own JBL Eon G2's and I hate the look of the speakers on sticks. Maybe that's why I don't use them any longer.

I don't use one because I like to work in FRONT of the table, though I use a black table cover that just about reaches the ground to hide wiring and cases.

I work in front and to the side for more accessibility, and incidentally to give a peak at what laymen would consider complicated looking equipment. Just to show that I'm actually doing something.....:sqerr:

I have to tell you though- Randy A's lit facade is a keeper, especially in clubs. NICE.

Ahhh now Ron - what ya can do is take a pair of your kilts & cover the tripods of your speaker stands....

Or just buy a pair of DJ Skirt speaker stand leg covers & there ya go. No unsightly bare speaker stands.

Just make sure you have a spare kilt for yourself! :sqlaugh:

Sorry cant answer the poll - mine depends on the occasion

sometimes we use one, sometimes we dont

As of now I am without Fascade as I have a podium style setup to shrink the footprint. Honestly I love all the new creations. It isnt feasible for me at this point. I dress my kit appropriately.

Used my new 4 ft wide DJ Skirt last night. Looked nice but when they say 4 ft they mean it. I built a new roll in booth that's 4 ft wide and it just fits. Also the skirt could be a tad longer. I may have to put velcro on it at the bottom for outside.

I use a 16 foot Custom facade, because I need it to hide the couch I sit on while I DJ, and the cooler full of alcoholic beverages I bring to make the children's event tolerable...

I also find that the facade hides my lower half of my body, and hence the ankle bracelet that "The State" makes me wear as part of my parole....
