Scott,
I will agree with you somewhat that no one software has everything but I tell you, Traktor gives me everything I want and more. The only think lacking is Video for Music Songs. (It does Karaoke). When people see Traktor they make comments such as "It looks too busy", "it is too complicated" etc. What does one really expect,a blank screen with a Red button that says "Push Play"? That program is loaded with all kinds of features and effects. You can change configurations on the fly etc. As a DJ program it is an all rounder. I personally like it better than VDJ, even without Video for Music files, it beats it hands down in features. They are constantly staying ahead of the curve with new releases that incorporate new and better features. The other DJ Software I respect and may buy is Serato, which as most of us know is geared mainly to Turntabilists and Controllers. I am looking to bring my two Technics 1200s back into duty, mainly for rentals to other DJs.

All software sucks, in it's own particular way xf:D

I have all of them -- behooves me to know what they're doing, and set myself apart. I also use some of them -- some are better at certain functions than others.

A toolbox does not usually have a single tool in it -- you don't use a Phillips head, to drive a straight screw, and you don't use a Fender Passport in a stadium. Like anything in life, it pays to have the tools that do certain jobs well...

The only close thing I've found that can just about do everything you want, is duct tape -- but it doesn't play music (yet)... I'm sure they're working on that though... :sqlaugh:

Scott, You need to get some perspective and stop looking at this as a all-or-nothing battle.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

But I do agree that there are plenty of other good options out there if a software doesn't fit one's needs.

Everyone should use what software works for them.

As I mentioned before, I'm glad you found a software you are happy with. I do enjoy hearing what people like about the things they use. I like to learn. Nothing wrong about having an opinion.

When someone says things about things they don't use or don't use very often, it's counter productive.

Bob...frankly... so what! You've done your review; move on

...and you've read it .. so move on. Really, it works both ways.

I played around with it a few years ago...What I really like about it was:

1) the automatic mixing was unparalleled; Still today, I don't think it can be matched

That auto-mixing is not what it used to be. Once they added ABM and video the auto-mix quit being so tight. The standard issue iTunes actually mixes tighter.

Are those that bought and are still buying OTS fools?

IMHO - yes. Waiting for Ots and the tools that never arrive leaves you without sufficient practice and experience. It stunts your growth and hands your competitor a strong advantage over you in terms of knowledge, experience, and honed talent.

I could care less about video overlay, karaoke functionality.....

I'd have written you a letter if I thought you were the only one who cares to know. This is the internet remember? ...lots of people over time.

I've bought lights based on "promises" and found that they just didn't do what I needed them to do or didn't live up to their billing.

You can return the lights.

The update is here; you don't like it; The software doesn't work for you....Lesson learned. Really it's that simple.

I agree - it's time for you to move on then. :)

Sometimes when people review things, they forget to mention how much they actually know about the product or version. Often when they are stating what a software can and can't do, it's really an option that can be turned off or on, yet the inexperienced person doesn't know that, so the review can be flawed.

I think it's very appropriate for someone to say they don't like something. I do believe it's misleading to say what it is designed for and what it is not when easy research will tell you the truth.

I think if every time you disagree with an opinion you need to disparage the knowledge or intelligence of the person holding it - that does pretty nice work of derailing a thread. I've used Ots in some capacity weekly for the last 8 years, eaither as a music archive or for unattended playback. I wouldn't bother trying to mix with it - that would be foolish... if you have a preferred controller and know all the secrets that make Ots a mix solution - please share them. If you know how to make the video overlay work without reversing the trend to portable laptop computing - please share. I've given you a review using hardware that meets or exceeds the Ots recommendations - please give us your review on the hardware you mix and run video from using Ots?

I'll not get into a debate with you.

But in the review, you stated a negative, something you didn't like that was a simple option a user can turn off and on. Either you didn't know it, or chose not to disclose that in the review.

Didn't we just close a 300 post count thread about the same crap?
yes its true and now Im two for two................................................
