Indeed, my friend. Yet I've seen DJs with 20-plus years in the biz loading rudimentary systems... Eon and Crate cabinets, Pyramid and Alesis stuff. And these are wedding and party DJs. They ain't gearheads, that's for sure. But they work so doggoned cheap they can't afford any better. And cheap clients don't give a care.

Joking aside, for a DJ, music is king, and can be easily adjusted. For a Karaoke Host, it's all about vocals. Yes we can adjust, and do. But amateur vocalists offer way too many surprises. Even a seemingly quiet singer may give a war whoop at the end of a song. These things truly are a must for us.

I agree... and this is one of the earlier things I learned about processing. It's a must for live sound. And mics are live sound. C/L/G is a requirement when you're micing vocalists. C/L can clean up and tone a vocalist.

Could be a circut in the speaker too my old CVs were like that
