Energizer Ultilmate Lithium Batteries?

I purchased a large pack of the Energizer Ultilmate Lithium Batteries for my wireless mics. They gave the system a strange buzzing that was faint, but there. I had to go back to the old school batteries.

Anyone else have this issue?
 
We use rechargeables in our Audio-Technica 3000 series. We get 5-6 hrs out of each mic. Tried regulars alkaline cells and only get about 2-3 hrs. I know the wireless companies say don't use rechargeables but they work. We've found Energizers are best... about 2500 to 2700 mah give the best performance.
 
Hugh those are all I use. I use them in my mics my camera and my flash. I have no such problem as you described. It coul be that the are a little more than 1.5 volts that most batteries put out and is giving the mics grief. And I always buy them in bulk on ebay.I get a few gigs from them not hours.
 
In our Shures we run plain old duracell and only have to replace the batteries twice a year. Before we start every year though, we change all of the batteries in all of our gear out, just to make sure we start the year fresh.

I have to call you on this one.... I use Shure wireless too... depending on the show I may go through a set of batteries in one night or over the course of 2-3 shows... but, no way am I getting 6 months use out of a couple of AA batteries in any of my wireless'.
 
when I used my now backup Gemini multi diversity I would use two double A's for nearly a yr. My newer EV uses about one 9 volt every 3-4 months.

How often/long do you leave your mics on? Ours are turned off when not in use, even at a gig. We'll put them on mute durring a string of events that we'll need it for (first dance, parent dances, etc). So in a typical 5 hour gig, our mics are actually turned on maybe an hour, if that.
 
mute mode actually takes juice as well. My Gem and EV both have no mute mode saving the batteries even more.

True, however, the amonut of power consumed is less.

We also take the batteries out of the mics after every gig because even when off, the mic will draw small amounts of power.

Not to mention that battery corrosion can occur. Bad thing for the mic!
 
Turning your mics off during the show? Wow, never heard of such a thing. Ours go on at around 6:00 when we start... and they stay on till midnight... in mute often, but always on cause we never know when we need to talk.

Why not? Isn't that why they have an on/off switch/button? :triwink:

In all seriousness though, once the formalities are done and its open dancing time, there's no real need to leave the wireless turned on, only to drain batteries. If an announcement needs to be made in less time than it takes to turn on the mic, then the situation will likely already be over, or you're so screwed it's not even funny (think sudden natural disaster).
 
Good points on saving battery life guys. But there's another way to preserve the batteries a bit more. ;) Use your wired mic for booth use and the wireless for the clients and "if and when" you need to go beyond your setup.

I always turn mine off if for no other reasons than if it drops and I have the mic hot on the mixer..... well... it's not pretty.
