I have the evox 8 but I would really like it with a 15 or 18 in sub, they could build with an 18 with wheels on the back of the sub, you could just stow the top in the sub tip the whole thing on its back and roll it out of the venue.
When you're running your Evox at full-range, it's also covering sub duty so you WANT it on the floor. It SHOULD be on the floor for the bass notes to sound their best from floor coupling. Why do have to raise the whole thing, when you don't raise it any other time. That doesn't make sense. You are not making the Evox sub do anything other than not handle 80Hz and below. It's still doing the rest of its job the same way it always does. Although I would probably but the Evox sub on top of the bigger sub.
Okay, I think I stand corrected then. For the "occasional" I need a little more bass situation, an external sub with the Evox may be feasible. I'd venture to say that a traditional top / sub combo would sound better though. That little Evox array handling 220Hz + can't be better than a traditional 12" top box (both running at ear level). My tops are the Evox 8's so if I put them on the floor than I would have all frequencies at that level. Not just the frequencies 220 and below. The Evox sub only handles 220 and below. I played music through them and also did some mic work with only the subs on and there is barely any vocal that comes through the, it is not like your typical 2 way setup where the 12" is handling 2500hz and below. Where the 12" is handling most of the vocal range.
"There are 3 Evox in the photo, the one to the left is the new Evox 12. I don't have a street date yet, but o did get to see it last week in Italy, it's going to be killer. 18" sub and Neo drivers in the top. "
