Do you nickel and dime clients?

Tigger -- the problem I have with this whole thing, is that DJs/Entertainers have become sales people.

We are NOT sales people -- we are entertainers.

If you are simply a sales person -- than call yourself that. Don't call yourself an entertainer, and try and confuse people.

I don't disagree with you .. but you are both, really. Unless you are a multi-op with sales people doing just that, how does that work? How do expect to get business if you can't / don't sell your product / services? Are you a programmer, a sales person, a CEO, DJ, entertainer, tech support or all of the above?

It all boils down to what YOU can sell to your customer ... and what your customer is willing to buy. There are car dealerships that sell cars for 30k and some that sell the very SAME car for 40k (or more). What is the difference? The difference is who sold the car - and who bought the car. If you're trying to sell the car for 40k, your customer needs to believe that it's worth it.
You said one of the best things ever! That's what it comes down to. It's getting a potential client to believe that what you have to offer is worth the price you want them to pay. Whatever that price is. If it's $50.00 or 5k, they need to believe that it's worth it.

Just find a dumber ass, with a lot of money...

I believe this is why America is so f_cked up now.Everybody spends all their time trying to sell you something, and very little time actually doing something for that money. No wonder the Chinese own US now...
So if someone is willing to pay you 10k more for your product or service then someone else, you wouldn't take their money? I'm not suggesting to cheap people and be a sleaze bag but if you can get more then why wouldn't you take it?

One store I hate is PC Richards because their prices are inflated to me. I know I can go somewhere else and get the same thing for less. They have a nice selection but not worth paying more for the same thing. I've been to stores where I know I can negotiate on the price and there are those that their price is just that, their price and either you pay that price or you don't get what they are selling. If we're say within $50.00 of one another in the price, then i can consider eating $50.00 to win the gig. Please remember I did say consider. That's not saying it's automatic.

I don't "sell" my products. People buy them because they want them.

People used to call me all the time, and ask why they should buy my software over XWZ software. I could never come up with an answer, other than it works good, and I get more beer.

Interesting note:

I have no wife/GF or kids. I have a dog -- costs me about $5 a week to feed her. I don't drive that much, and my car was been paid off about 17 years ago - it's 19 years old now.

My bills are about $150 bucks a month.

What else do I need...?

Someone 'willing to pay' more is alot different than someone paying what it's worth.

I don't think your comparison of store A selling the same thing as store B has a place here. I can't compare you to Ricky because you both offer different things. Nor can I compare you to Canute. Now if you all were offering the same thing, in the same area, at the same time - then maybe I could. Knowing what I know, I'm certain that you each have a different value - and that's what you're selling. What are you and your show worth - to your client.

Now if I know that Canute, yourself and Ricky are offering the very same product - and there is a price difference, then why should I pay more?

You could be selling the most expensive product in the world - what good is it if no one buys it? Flip the coin .. and you could be selling the cheapest product in the world - again, what good is it if no one buys it?

You need to know your value and you need to convey its worth. If people believe you, they'll buy it.

By having the Rockit banner as your Signature. By placing it on this site, says that it is a form of sales in the form of advertising. Everytime one talks about their product it is selling. Now asking for the order/money is the vital part...the closing of the deal.

So-so for me. I like to support Danno and the site. It's a cool place to hang out.

Not so sure how long that will continue, as money is not so great these days. People are stealing my software now daily -- Rusky and Chink websites. Google, who I was paying about $1k a month in advert fees for the last 7 years, dropped my listing to about page 17.

Did I mention the water in the shower was blacker than you sorry ass this morning -- that was a wonderful experience. My hair is darker now though, and I still have a sick sense of humor.

But I have some Vodka -- but I could use more actually :)

A newer car couldn't hurt.

:)
Sorry but if it still works why get a newer car? Such vehicles were made a lot better at that time. So you would buy some more equipment because the stuff you have is getting too old event though it works great? I wouldn't waste money on something I really don't need to. Especially that big of a purchase.

A purpose.

I have one -- walking my dog :)

Actually, I have two -- I'm writing some new software to predict the lottery numbers, by statistically evaluating the occurrence of numbers over the last 20 years. Might be fruitful, might not -- certainly will be better than trying to sell software to cheap ass DJs...

You honestly believe that Mix? I don't disagree with the whole 'if it still works logic' but cars were definitely not made alot better 19 years ago (1992).

Ricky never mentioned what condition his car was in .. nor did he mention it was a great car - all he said was "I don't drive that much, and my car was been paid off about 17 years ago - it's 19 years old now". IMO, not much has changed with how they make cars in the last 20 years - other than more plastic in some places. Now if you said cars from the 60's / 70's were made alot better, I might agree with you.

Also, just because a product 'works' for you, doesn't mean you have to keep it. Maybe you want something different / better. I have CD players that I bought back in 90 that still work. Am I still using them? Absolutely not. Could I still use them? Absolutely, and they're just as dependable today as they were back in 90. Over time, I picked up other ones to try different things.

It's not in great shape -- but it got me to S. FL and back yet again -- that's a 3,000 mile round trip. And it's faster than a bat out of Hell.

Shocks are shot now -- drive up the road, and you feel like you're on a bungee cord jump -- think one of them bobble head things bouncing around -- that would be me!

I'd love to get a new car (van actually), but finances do not permit that at the moment...

So I nickel and dime the car... hehehe

You make a great point because I changed things in my setup because I wanted an easier better setup. I was never going to buy a pair of powered speakers. I finally bought a pair of tops and powered subs. I'm so happy I did. I still have a QSC 2450 amp and 2 Yamaha S 215 speakers that was talked into not selling. I did sell a pair of CDJ 800's I had in cases. I got rid of them because I bought the Denon DN MC 6000 and am very happy. I could have kept the CD players to rent them out but decided to sell them instead because I wasn't planning on using them any more.

Renting them out would have also meant to have a person renting them would have to sign a damage waiver in case if they do get damaged.

Dude, I sure hope you're pure fiction, 'cause if you're not it would be ironically sad that you treat your dog better than yourself.

Despite the histroical record of a random number sequence having no bearing whatsoever on a future prediction - I bet the software will be a hit with compulsive gamblers. I think I learned in another thread to call that "sizzle." :)
