Well... that's certainly a possibility. So folks... I'm waiting for questions. And, I'd love to hear someone say: "I got it!"Or, maybe you're doing such a FANTASTIC job of explaining things.
Sounds to me like you've GOT IT!I'm trackin. Sorry for the delay. I understand thus far. I also understand the 'cheating'.
As I see it, if you have (4) four channel fixtures of the same type on a controller that has 16 channels per 'fixture button', you could:
1: Address them all the same - say 001. In this case, all 4 would respond the same exact way to commands on channels 1-4.
2: Address them 001, 005, 009 and 013. In this case, all 4 would respond differently on 001: 001-004, 005: 005-008, 009: 009-012 and 013: 013-016

With DMX, there are some things that everyone can use. I use the scene buttons on my Obey 40 to set all lights to one of 8 colors .. all at once. That has a nice effect when they're all in sync. I have 2 of the Sushi DMX dongles (same as ADJ DMX buddy) .. I'd like to find a nice easy app that would let me make some more 1 touch operations .. like all sound active .. or all slow fade to off .. etc.
I think I have the programming part down .. just have little experience with the software apps.
It would be great if the DMX programs could recognize a fixture, just like when I plug something new into my PC, "new hardware found installing drivers", it might make thing a lot easier
