DJ Software Drag-n-Drop Functionality

I'm totally befuddled here -- why does song 10, need to be at position 5, in order to drag to a deck and play it??? Heck, if you don't like the order they're in, click the header to sort them!

I'm lost -- need more info on this one...

First time I have seen this! Pretty nice looking! Rick did you develop this all by yourself? Did Miller Lite or Budweiser help you at all? :sqbiggrin:

Also, Rockit has this neat ability to resize a small skin, to a large wide screen (although it doesn't stretch the actual background image). I mentioned this in a post somewhere after 4.0's initial release:

If you are using a standard 4:3 skin, you change the background size to the actual screen size (in this case, my screen is 1280x768), and the rest of the screen will turn black. Here, I moved the AutoMix queue from the center, into that extra space. I didn't put anything into the space it previously occupied, but you could easily put anything there you want.

So now, the AutoMix queue can show 40 songs at a time, which makes it real simple to drag and drop into decks, or the A & B queues. :)

Hmmm, I actually agree with Randy on this functionality (?).
I too like to build my show ahead and rearrange as needed, I usually stage in the request box and move to the deck ques as needed (although using the automix que is a great idea, since I also use the request box to jot down actual requests). I hadn't noticed that you couldn't drag and drop to move within a list, however that would be a nice feature and one I'm sure I would have soon noticed was missing (I've only used the program live at a gig a handful of times).

On a side note I do miss the que boxs in DarkWood and actually realized I can't function without them (not a fan of popups), so it looks like I will be teaching myself how to build a skin.
 
Thanks for illustrating that Rick. This is basically how I use Rockit. Since all of my files are tagged nicely, I see no need to load them all into Rockit's library. I use the HD search or navigate directly to the folder to access songs. The only difference is that I use the actual OS window to display my music folder to the right. The reason is that I don't like the expanding tree.

If the PC menu in Rockit behaved like the OS window, I would use the right panel to display the files from within the program (like you illustrated).

Not sure I totally understand what you mean Hank...

If you mean by the OS window, you are talking about Explorer -- it basically behaves the same way as the one in Rockit -- expandable on the left, with the files showing in another window on the right???

Screenshot maybe...
 
Rick, two questions...

1) How do you "expand" the auto mix que as shown?

2) On that skin, how hard would it be to delete both A & B waitlists and the center auto mix que and have that larger automix que appear on the side as shown as an available skin?
 
Pretty simple actually :)

In that particular example, I used the DarkGray skin. All the skin XML files are located here:

C:\SoftJock\RockitProDJ40\Skins (or 41 depending on which version you have). Just open the skin XML file in Notepad, and change the following lines:

Near the top:

<background image="DarkGray1024x768.bmp" x="0" y="0" width="1024" height="734" type="DJ Std"/>

to (in this case my screen size is actually 1360 wide)

<background image="DarkGray1024x768.bmp" x="0" y="0" width="1360" height="734" type="DJ Std"/>


Towards the bottom, we just change the x, y, w, and h values to what you want (x = left, y = top, w = width, h = height):

<listctrl action="mx-queue" visible="1" x="1024" y="000" w="330" h="734" bkcolor="000000" txcolor="C0C0C0" font="Verdana" fsize="09" Header="0" NHS="1" NVS="0" value="AutoMix Queue - Drop tracks here"/>



If you want to make any queue hidden, just change the visible tag to 0 (zero).

Save the file, and restart Rockit :)
 
BTW, if you don't know exactly what size you want things (for coords), just experiment, you will quickly find out.

The only thing that might make a skin not load properly, is leaving out the double quote marks on each tag -- they are required for proper loading of the skins.

Either way, you won't hurt Rockit, by fiddling around in the skin files, and they are fairly well documented by yours truly :)

OK Rick...almost done. How do I get the 3 now blank areas - A deck que, B deck que and the center automix que to actually just disappear and bump everything else up?
 
Ok Hank, I got you -- you are using what is referred to as a drill down combo tree/list.

If you look at the BackRow skin, you will see such a list -- although you can't drag and drop from it -- it is specifically designed for jukebox use, and touch screens.

Can't help ya on that one, as it would entirely change the way the program works, in regards to the My Computer tree. I could make a list like that, that you could drag and drop from, but it would only work with the library.

Well, you have to move everything up, if you want to fill in those blank spaces -- that (if using the Dark Gray skin) = 41 buttons, 1 search edit box, and 5 lists :sqerr:

Not all that hard, as only the y coords need to be changed, but you would lose all the button indents and such, that are on the background image (they are not part of the button controls, but were drawn in layers on the image itself).

Might look a little funky, unless the background image were modified...
 
Yikes! Sounds too complicated for this little mind. I'll think I'll offer that other skin guy on your web site $$$ to do it all for me.

But you did say you "opened up the auto mix que and moved it". It sounds like a double click to somehow open that que while in the program - not a skin change. . How is that done?

Yes, that's the easy option :)

If you want to open the AutoMix queue for example, right click with the mouse over the crossfader, choose View AutoMix Queue, and up pops a new, resizable window, that you can move around to where ever you like :)

Same holds true for the deck A & B queus -- just remember, they all use the same popup window, so only use one or the other. Doesn't really matter, as you can drag from any queue, to either deck.
 
Wow! Now there's no need for a new skin! I just pick one that may not show one, but keep it as a separate window - absolutely great!

But that way of showing an automix que does not delete the tracks once they're loaded and played. Am I missing something? Plus I can't manually delete the tracks...oh wait...if I close then open the list, it does edit itself.

Is there a way of keeping it open and have it delete tracks automatically like a "shown in the skin" automix que?

Hmmm, the code to do that is commented out -- don't recall why I did that...?

Must have been an issue. You can just click the DELETE key after you've dropped it though, and it will remove from the Popup window, and update the status :)

I'll take another look at that, and update that for next release.
 
Ahhh, I see -- that was a DUH moment on my part... :rofl: :sqrolleyes:

When I comment out a code block during testing and debugging, I do a global find and replace to uncomment, and I spelled DEBUG wrong on that block, so it never got uncommented out

Must've had some good beer that day -- I usually never spell DEBUG wrong :sqembarrassed: :sqlaugh:
