Thing is, a lot of these DJs are spinning at very exclusive private events for Google, Facebook, etc.
And how much do they make from a facebook show? Are people dancing or are they just watching the dj.

I have been to just about every club in Vegas and want to know how many times I heard a dj scratch... NOT ONCE. In Vegas!

I try very hard to scratch on beat and cut to the rhythm, but I know my place,

May I ask, what kind of events to you do where you are able to "scratch on beat and cut to the rhythm". And, if you don't mind, how much do you make for doing these events?

Doing it for "the love of the craft" or "because you love music" doesn't pay the mortgage. The sooner you realize that, the better.

No one is even paying attention to the DJ. They are spinning just like you would get hired for a corporate party, just charging a lot more. FB is choosing to hire the best, nothing more to it.

I have been to many clubs in Vegas too, and they all scratch, so my point above is that when done well, you don't even notice it. Its part of the music and not distracting at all.

Again, how much are they charging for a facebook show? And who is paying that? Can't wait to verify this!

It's possible that you and wifedj are on the BS train today!

They are charging the same amount they charge any client. They have a hourly rate.

If you are at the level where you are hired to spin for Facebook, your rates are 1k+ per hr.

What do you mean, who is paying this?

I DJ almost exclusively weddings. I charge flat rate $2300 and was planning on raising my rates again although with Corona, not so sure.

Seriously, go look at any of the guys at SCE or any high end wedding DJ. We are all doing it and have been for years.

Why do I have the feeling you have never even heard any of these DJs..

Who, ON FACEBOOK is paying these dj's thousands of dollars??

The same ones that hire DJs for any event. I am not following...Every corporate business that plans events has an event team and someone or a team is responbisble for hiring a DJ.

Who hires you for a corporate event? It's the same answer.

Who hires you for a wedding? Same answer.

Who hires you for a club gig. Same answer.

They are not getting hired in a special way.

Tell me who hires for these exclusive private events for Google and Facebook. If you are telling me that the companies like Google and Facebook hire these dj's who scratch all night for their corporate events... I would like to see your proof.

I didn't say they scratch all night and this tells me you aren't understanding what a DJ who scratches does.

I personally know DJs who spin for these events. Do you want to go call their agent?? Maybe you will get your answer as I don't personally know the booking staff at Facebook and Google. LOL. Good luck getting personal information, but you yourself can go reach out to google or Facebook and asked them how much they paid their last DJ.

Why do you assume I know the person who hires them, and what their personal info is? Get real man.

Again, it's not just a corporate thing. They spin for all types of event, and plenty of weddings.

DJs that can charge 1k+ per hour are super talented and are wanted by many, including big corporate companies with lots of money (Facebook, google, apple), and high-end private events for other well-known people. People that have money. Those people are interested in hiring the very best at their craft.

Go look into DJ Splyce. Probably the most mainstream "celebrity" DJ out here in LA, and by far the best I have heard when it comes to implementing scratch techniques without almost no one noticing.

Why is this so hard to believe for you? This is not that hard to find out, of course, you need to know the DJs who command a high price tag. Do you really think I am just making this all up?? I am not sure if I should be offended b/c you are essentially saying I am liar, or if I should feel bad for you for being out of touch. This is not a new trend. I still feel you haven't heard a good DJ!

I don't think people notice when I scratch either. It's part of the music and it blends in, just like a solid mix!

It's like Cinematography. People don't notice it unless it's bad as it should help aid the story, not distract.

DJ AM (the best of them all) was one of the first DJs to charge an insane amount for just a basic corporate party. He was getting 10k on a regular basis, even for a small/basic/simple event.

I opened up for him at a club, and his booking manager at the time as well as the club owner told me his pay. He was definitely the extreme and not many DJs, especially at that time were charging so much. Still one of the most memorable times in my DJ career.

He really inspired me to be great, and I think many DJs feel the same!

I'll leave you with this as I just discovered Lady Style.

I have been watching her for inspiration. If she knew the right people, she could charge big bucks too.

Below is my fav youtube DJ who EASILY can be charging 1k. He is super talented and scratches just like DJ AM as in sound the exact same. Cleary studied him.

Go spend the day watching.

I assure you, most of these dj's do not scratch at these events. Some do. Most do not.

and I assure you, you are wrong. I have been (along with the DJs) who do these events.

Again, good scratching is hardly noticed by the public. It's something that they do just like I do at weddings.

The difference in me vs them at a wedding, is I don't scratch quite as long or get as fancy wit hit, but I do it as often.

Sorry, I just find hitting cue cue play a little borning. I would rather move my hand with the beat.

I can do one better, I am among MANY on this page that do these events. Not "been along with the dj's", actually have done them.

Neither of us our wrong in our opinions.. take care. Kind of a boring debate to me.

Let's leave it as .. some do .. many don't .. you either like it or not ...

As they say, opinions are like a**holes .. everyone has one ..

I am pretty sure, although I could be wrong, but no one on this page does these events. Ha, I hope to one day, but I don't think anyone here has that high end of a clientele and get charge 1k per hour and be booked multiple times a week. Speak up, DJs if you on here.

Here's hoping you get to ...
