Dj related injuries-Ouch!

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
I thought we were talking about injuries.Not who is or isn't professional.What's up?

If you put me in a forum with officiants and wedding coordinators and I use my examples from the entertainment side of my business that these people have no idea what it is like to do and it irritates them does it mean I was wrong?

If my goal at a Wedding Reception is to get Gran Pa to take off his shirt and dance with all the groomsmen to I'm sexy and I know it, Would the Officiants and coordinators approve.

I am passionate about my views if that is not acting professional...........so be it.

The answer to your question is

It would of been 1995 when I decided this is how I wanted to make my living as a DJ and walked away from a 40 hour couldn't get fired from job.
 
It was my response to Houston post that got the ball started. If it hadn't been for that comment by Houston I would of never existed in this thread since the only problem that i remember having was knee problems but I don't know if it was just getting old or a DJ problem.
 
The only real injury I had...was I cut my neck shaving for a wedding.
Not worth mentioning by itself...
except that the cut stopped bleeding....until I put on my tux shirt.
By the time I got to the reception, my collar had a huge red stain.

Is that DJ related?

No, but if you joined just about every forum that had officiants and wedding coordinators, and you told them you were a wedding coordinator too, but provided no real world information, and the vast majority of them found you irritating, and you were kicked out of almost all of them, then I'd say you probably weren't being professional.

Passion, I admire. You can be passionate and make your point without trying to make others feel inferior.

I have worked at a club where i ran contests such as a best male chest contest to bring the ladies to the club.

My talents as a DJ are not limited to your narrow view of not wanting a man to take off his shirt.

I have no control over how a person reacts to my posts.

My talents as a DJ are not limited to thinking that getting a male dancer to take his shirt off, or most men to take their shirt off in front of women, requires special DJ talent. Are you suggesting that if someone has not asked a man to take their shirt off, then they are not a good DJ? Not seeing the connection. You think that's the ONLY way to have fun? You don't think it's possible that SOME might be offended by it at a wedding? Narrow thinking?

No, but you have control over the words you use and how you use them. Most know darn well when they are being offensive to others and know how to get their point across without being rude. How do you think it's possible for some to NEVER get kicked out of forums? It does happen, you know. I am not saying that if someone gets kicked out of a forum makes them a bad person. But when someone gets kicked out of MOST forums within their industry, and most in that forum are glad that person is gone, I'd say that makes them less of a professional. Even if they are good at what they do, they have a hard time relating to people, which is a trademark of a true professional.
 
You forgot i said "Gran pa" and to get him to take off his shirt would indeed be a sign of a Master DJ at a wedding reception creating a moment in time that people will be talking about after he passes away.

I had one recently! It happened right on this board and lasted a week! :sqrofl::D:laugh:
 
Never really injured myself while doing a mobile gig, But once when doing some wiring in the Studio at the radio station I was not paying attention and caught my leg on the edge of some 19" rack rails that were to be installed and gave myself a nice 4" gash. Only other time was doing setup for carrot top at an event in FL and when hanging the Pal 1200's (those that remember them know how heavy they were) had a guy drop one on my foot. Thankfully did not break my foot but it swelled up big time.

I now take with me a trauma kit that is enough to control bleeding from a gunshot wound so I think it can handle some scrapes & bruises.
 
I got my stitches out.Man did I get whacked.Got to watch that trim on those Odyssey cases,dudes!
 
About 8 years ago, I was lifting my DJ turret onto a table while setting up for a birthday party in someone's backyard. I felt a rip in my left shoulder, and watched my left arm go limp (slight tear in rotator cuff). I could squeeze my hand, but not move the arm at all. Took some Tylenol, and worked the party one-handed. Took a month to get some strength back.
