The question I have is how much does it cost someone if they make a request using this system? It's one thing to pay to use a jukebox and another to pay a DJ for making a request. The reason for a jukebox is so that people can listen to music while in a place. At that time there's no DJ playing music. So the place should get money from somewhere for people listening to music that's entertaining people. A DJs job is to play music for people to be entertained. If a DJ is playing in a bar or club the goal should be to entertain people and have people at the bar buying drinks. So if I buy a drink at the bar, why should I then have to pay a DJ for making a request? I consider that gouching people for money.
If a DJ takes request, that DJ should be happy to play a persons request if it's appropriate. To me this is just plain tacky! If a DJ does this that to me says that DJ isn't charging enough for their services. Now for example what about a DJ that charges $1,500 to do an event. Should they charge for people making requests? What about someone like Taso or Bob Carpenter? If they did this, how much would it hurt their business?
