First off is I think some of you guys are missing the point of an "Elevator Speech". It does not have to take place in an elevator per se but anywhere that you meet someone that you could sell yourself and your services too. The term is based on being in close proximity to someone who could advance your business or be a perspective client. Getting them interested in you and your product or service takes place within the first 10 seconds, if not sooner. The biggest waste of time is trying to sell your services to people who aren't interested or who don't require them.
Here is a practice exercise for your introductions. Give your introduction or elevator speech to someone, anyone. Watch their eyebrows. You will know by their facial expression right away if you piqued their interest. If you don't get an interested reaction, you may want to work on your speech.
