Ah yes, the elevator speech. I have a book that helps improve your elevator speech.

Mine: Simply the best service based business built on a foundation of excellence.

Then I throw in something about being a DJ.

I'm a mobile DJ specializing in Weddings. I've done over 400 weddings in the last 12 years. I take pride in being fun and interactive, but done so with class and no cheese. I custom-taylor each event to your desires so it is unique and memorable. It's my goal to have people say 'This was the best wedding I've ever been to.'

I am one of the top agents for emerging non-label rock bands and singer-songwriters in the country. I help secure shows in venues that normally would not have access to at a price they can realistically manage.

During the week I don't do much of anything. On the weekends people pay me good money for playing music that others have created. Crazy huh?
In my next life I'm gonna be a porn star.

How tall is that building that it takes 60 seconds to get where you are going and if it stops at every floor, wouldn't you have to start over so the ones that get on other floors can hear the whole thing?

I rely on the sentence below all the time:

"We save you time and money by offering bundled solutions, unique to your event."

First off is I think some of you guys are missing the point of an "Elevator Speech". It does not have to take place in an elevator per se but anywhere that you meet someone that you could sell yourself and your services too. The term is based on being in close proximity to someone who could advance your business or be a perspective client. Getting them interested in you and your product or service takes place within the first 10 seconds, if not sooner. The biggest waste of time is trying to sell your services to people who aren't interested or who don't require them.

Here is a practice exercise for your introductions. Give your introduction or elevator speech to someone, anyone. Watch their eyebrows. You will know by their facial expression right away if you piqued their interest. If you don't get an interested reaction, you may want to work on your speech.

Also keep in mind that both men and women will start making their decision about you within 5 seconds based on your appearance. Women have made up their minds in 17 seconds if they like you or not while men take 42 seconds. Women are more likely to change their minds within 5 minutes where men are 95% likely to stick with their initial instinct.

"I get paid to crash weddings, play hot music and sleep with bridesmaids."

I'm pretty sure that would pique their interest.

First I reach over and press every floor button there is,,, that way it stops more and takes longer and gives me more time to talk... :)
