But knowing your music well enough to know the chorus length and your intros to know where you should drop the next track is important to keeping a clean sound.

I didn't listen to all of it, but coming out of Danza Kuduro he lets two bars of vocals after the chorus play as he mixes in. That's the stuff that will really clean this up moving forward to make sure all of those phrasing types of issues are tighter.

im glad to have learned to mix by ear years ago... ive noticed that some of my songs load in at the wrong bpm... im sure there is a way to fix them...but i pretty much know the bpms without needing rekordbox to tell me... but im sure the sync button would have me all kinds of screwed up if i used it...with these songs being the wrong bpm....

I am, by NO means, a mix-master.
But I do notice that on my Numark D2 Director (a basic dual mp3 player)
some songs will load with a certain BPM...and it changes as the song plays.

Could it be that MOST of the song (the part you actually mix) is at a particular BPM...
but not the same BPM as the beginning...which is what the track will "load" as?

(I am asking, as much as I am suggesting)

not sure... seems logical!

if its a human drummer the song could shift slightly ...but not a whole lot.... i used to know all the spots in songs where the drummer lost his way a bit...lol...theres a little moment in the intro to Billie Jean that veers a tad off...i always just rubbed the platter forward a tad...

I'm not sure how Rekordbox does it, but you can fix BPM drift on a Serato analyzed track. You basically put in markers that override the auto-detection feature and it cleans up any beat grid issues. But most of the time, it's pretty good on electronically produced music.

Not many actually GOOD songs have a constant BPM ... robotic BPM is a prime reason many of us detest Urban, EDM and other syncopated songs.

yeah...im sure its done similarly ....i should probably do it...but thus far its just been a few tracks and it hasnt really effected me much on the mixing end

I loop or echo out quite a bit. If my beat grids are off, I can't catch a clean 1 or 2 beat loop and it sounds like dog poo. That's the main reason I end up paying attention to it. But if it doesn't affect your work flow, it's no big deal.

i always tap in the live bpm into my effects .... its annoying but more reliable
