I just thought of a great one! My favourite orchestral type band would have to be ALAN PARSONS PROJECT.
They use lots of different instruments & have put out some great music too.

but not that clear and obvious to others.

Any band can have an "orchestra sound"....
but not many of them "have lots of instruments"

any SOLO performer or BAND can "have lots of instruments" on a recording, but that doesn't mean that anyone in the band actually PLAYS them...
they could be session players

with that being said....
the only band I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is Dave Matthews.
they have an orchestra sound, lots of different instruments, which are all played by someone in the band.

now if you're gonna argue that DMB is NOT a classic rock band...
I'm gonna have to hurt ya!

Not classic rock, but KC and The Sunshine Band. As a matter of fact, MANY of the bands of the the Disco era were orchestral in nature...

No arguments here... I know when I am outnumbered.....besides which I don't like rope necklaces. :sqlaugh:
