Chauvet BT Air (Bluetooth Wireless Lights with App)

So is it kind of a pointless product line to come out with since it is limited? Or will lots of people buy into it because of the ability to use an app and bluetooth connect?

I almost see no difference between this, and using a IR remote to change the colors or select a different mode on each light. The only difference is using a remote vs. using a app on the phone or tablet it seems?

Also, with a remote and wireless dmx, you could master/slave a bunch of lights together, and just point the remote at one light if they are all wireless dmx capable.

That last part is a more practical solution... but again very limited in programming. You could never do a two tone lighting design, can't tie them in with moving heads or other lighting programs. I assume that since the technology is new, they're more expensive than their dmx equivalents, which actually have more capabilities.

Also, no one will replace all of their lights just to gain bluetooth capabilities.

Sort of the "Altos" of the lighting world.

I made the mistake of buying cheap speakers for my first setup. Fortunately, I only wasted about $250. But it’s still $250 I could have used for useful, quality gear.

Oddly, I think I made much better purchases when it came to lighting. And while I continue to be tempted by the latest fixtures that may fill a niche use, I’ve managed to avoid the impulse to indulge in these neat toys. Just makes a lot more sense to get a quality fixture to handle jobs both simple and complex, than wasting even a few bucks on something with very limited use.
