Still carrying a couple of CD road cases with me, but tailored to the evening's anticipated needs. I also have a HP Pavilion ZD8000 with OTSAV and External HD (1TB). I play about 60% CD and 40% Laptop. Which begs a question about how much processing speed is needed for Digital DJing?
I'm in the market for a new Laptop as Primary and the HP as backup. I believe this subject has been discussed before, so I'll check out the prior postings.

Then, out of curiousity....what was so special (or not so special) about my site? :triwink:

Since I have no idea what your website is, I have no idea.

Maybe you had a unique idea for the Full-Timers there, I don't know.

What's your site?

And, Jim...we actually talked on the phone in which you advised you could not tell me anything about the post.

Damn, yer full of drama and intrigue this week... :yoHot:

Oh wait, I'm sure it has something to do with my software too... :sqlaugh:

Randy, I'm guessing it had to do with your uplighting offerings. It was so long ago, I can't remember

Using serato scratch live, the first version, with a MacBook from 2005. It crashed once when I had an external drive go bad. I carry backup CD's and also a backup of the special songs for the event I'm doing.

You can't take a chance on digital cdong, I guess I better bring my cds just in case my laptop gat a spike.
Wow, CDs live on

Hmmmm....I wonder. That would be shortly after I met one of the guys just up the road who dropped some of the 'industry leaders' names as being good friends with. He was a high end guy, but just had went partners with another guy in a multi-op endeavor. I can't even remember his name, but it was at a bridal show. He noticed & asked about that the pics I was using for my new uplighting services, which were that of Kevin Nichols...which I was given permission from Kevin to do so.

No big deal at all; just curious. Thanks for the reply.

Still use CD's for all major songs, I like the look of the big rack on the table. It makes it look like I am actually doing something. I see a couple local guys, laptop and two powered speakers and that's it. I hear comments when the DJ looks like they bring nothing, but then if they bring too much it looks like they are over compensating too. Can't win in the eye of the public. I bring enough I think with the CD decks and laptops that it looks complicated which tends to keep peoples mits off my stuff.

Or you can do like I did still have a CD deck that will play MP3 CDs in your line up and carry like a total of 5 CDs 3 with the top 200 1 with dinner music and 1 with your clients special songs. Have a back up laptop and a back up external hard drive and then your pretty covered.

I like that setup, Nextgen! I will add that my players not only play MP3 discs ( which I don't do) but video CDs as well. They also have USB and Sandisc ports.

However, the only thing I use on them is standard CD+Gs. Nice to know I have the capability though....

I don't even own cd decks any more. Every one of my computers has a cd drive in the event that I really need to play a cd, which is extremely rare.

I just bring a back up laptop with me, a hd 2500, and a pacemaker mp3 player.

I also have a back up hd with all of my music and my DJ software. That way, if I needed to, I could run out, buy a laptop, load my dj software and my music and be off and running. I have never gotten to this level, but you never know.

I'll stay with CDs for now

till I know 100% what the so called Government wants to do

in the last 2x years they have been changing different rules its so confusing
so till I know 100% its ok to go full laptop I will remain CDDj
