We are in the market for another digital system, currently we have 2. Both DJ Power's. I keep hearing how great the OTS is...I know plenty of DJs who have either this or PCDJ. I've seen the PCDJ Karaoke in action, this person doesn't have the DJ version..

I've had the trial version of OTS, and quite frankly, not impressed. Unless I'm missing something.

Going back to DJP, we love it! But too damn expensive, $4300 minimum. you can buy the software only, but with no warranty for a cheaper price.

Should we stick with DJP, or is there a program just as easy to work like DJP??

OTSdj is amazing. It's very customizable for music mixing. I used to use PCDJ until it locked me out of my program saying my license was expired.....no one was available to help from PCDJ so I just migrated away. PCDJ used to studder and lock up, ots has not.

Dave

ps. I'm demo'ing Ricks program also.

I've never understood the appeal of DJ Power.

Perhaps you could elaborate on what you like about it, so that softwares that also have those features can be recommended, or what you're looking for in a software, now.

Hey Steve..

Great to meet you Saturday! I've decided on OTS over the weekend. I am calling the company who is selling the laptop and software built into it this am. I've hear nothing but great things about it.

Hope you had fun with Cap at Saturday night's wedding..

I looked at OTS initially..It's automixing (note: not beatmixing) is unparalleled. I also like the sound. It has built in compression/limiting. It sounded very nice..

The cons:

If you want to take full advantage of all the bells and whistles, you have to create the OTS proprietary files....

If you want to use dual soundcards you can; you have to give up the compression/limiting features (hence the "nice" sound).

It is pricey and is limited to one install. VDJ will allow your main gig rig and a back up....

Tim - make sure you're not paying a premium for the laptop/software combo. You can buy both separately. OTS will run on any laptop....

Surprised and delighted to meet you as well, Tim!

Please give me your review of OTS once you're up to speed with it. I know very little about it, and would love to know your take on it.

Had a great time Saturday with Cap!

Please explain *you have to create the OTS proprietary files....*

And...**make sure you're not paying a premium for the laptop/software combo. You can buy both separately. OTS will run on any laptop**

The company I am buying from will cost $1781. That's with the laptop (IBM-R60 14" 200 G HD ) and software.

Tim - In order to use many of OTS features, they require you to scan your mp3 files and create OTS albums...this additional file is where you sore all sorts of info....If you want to use beat matching, cue points, the limiters/compression features, etc., you have to create the OTS album files.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing...just be aware of the process....

OTS is $299.00 for one laptop. You'll need to buy a second license for a back up pc....I don't know the price on the 2nd license....

WRT laptops; on Lenovo's website a R400 with 14.1" screen, 250 gig drive, 3 gigs of ram and Vista premium is $1003.00 (shipping incl)

The R60 looks to be an out-of production model; it's not on their website as a current model..it looks to go back to 2006/2007....

I've been using several different versions of Mixmeister for several years with no complaints.I tried quite a few and like MM the best I have also demoed Rockit and like it as well if I was going to make a change that's the way I would go

Let us know how you like OTS?

One software I'm using is Swift Elite by Tricerasoft. It does everything including DMX and "dumb" lights.
