Your desire to be contrary has clouded your ability to read.
The reference was to Bill's character and the fact that far too many people would not have the moral conviction to say anything because they are simply gig whores and care none at all.
CORurRECTConfucius say: Stating that one needs to have moral conviction to say something, implies the person they are speaking to does not.
Sorry Bill but your there for them and not you
what she wants si what she gets - you know you cant give your opinion or they will be saying bad about you later on
this is why we have to keep quiet when it comes to choices , if they want you to play a song then you play it
sorry but I dont see anything wrong with it!
Some self proclaimed "DJs" are even cheaper than renting gear....I flat out tell them they can save a lot of money & rent some audio gear & hook up an MP3 player with their personal choices....
"Play "Blow me" for the father-daughter dance? ....Okay, No problem!

Can I get a copy of that?
Which is simply one of the important reasons I would politely refuse to facilitate the activity.Playing a song that may be funny to 5 or 10 of her closest friends, may offend the other 150 guests. Guests leave that event saying "Can you believe what that DJ said/played??...remind me not to hire him!"
SVO,I understand Bill's doubts about the song. While the bride thinks it's funny (And it might be to some of her friends) another part of her single friends might take it as a slap in the face, specially if they're having relationship problems or can't find somebody appropriate for them.So she may have 45 friends coming in and she'll probably be left with 10 when all is over.

Bill,
I think I know your answer but I'd be interested in the answers from the DJ Jukeboxes...
What's more rewarding, a) providing a meaningful service to a limited and unique clientele at substantially higher than average rates or, b) providing an average service to 3 to 4 times as many average clients at substantially lower but average rates.

Personally I think it's pretty pretentious to think that they would think of you at all after the next day and that's a mabye. They aren't going to remember the song any more than they will remember your announcement on playing it. Even at a 98% referral rate it comes from 2% of the folks that see you
All in all it's pretty simple either you take the gig and play the song or refuse the gig.
Especially if simple is your aim and your M.O....it's pretty simple...
I dunno, I have heard people (as guests) tell me about things the DJ did at events & that they would not hire them because of that.
Let's say you are a lady who is single, but engaged. You are uncomfortable coming out on the dancefloor for the bouquet toss anyway, and then the music comes on ...."Ahhh look at all the lonely people!!!!
If I thought it was his idea, do you think I would hire this jackass DJ for my wedding?
It's just a thought.
Especially if simple is your aim and your M.O.
I know I'm humorless Jeff, that's why, when I'm trying to make a funny or clarify my inetent, I cue readers with those funny smileys...:yomoon:yorofl:Mabye you should try taking a quote in context sometime Rox you would discover you are nowhere near as funny as you think you are.
Kudos! Knowing one's target is an important component of success. (Notice the absence of smileys here)And yes Simple is my aim... I know my job and do it with great success
Personally, I thinks it's foolish, but certainly indicative, to behave and/or perform as though your actions will be discounted and effectively discarded immediately upon completion.
