Bose system needed LA area

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
Why would a client dictate the specific system for their event? Just curious.
 
I suppose since I don't have a bose system, if i wanted the event that badly, I would go and rent one, but then my fee would most likely be more than the client would be willing to pay. But, a prospect who demands Bose may be a hi-end client anyway.

Because they can, and for whatever reason, this is what they want?

Is there any reason why they couldn't or shouldn't?

How do you figure? If the client asked for LED lighting versus bulbs, is that ridiculous? Can they make requests for the kind of music they want? Where's the line, and why?

I believe that I and the D.J. renting my system can both make money this way. Hopefully, the numbers will make everyone happy.

Even though people that actually use the systems keep saying different, its just a hoax. Nice catch!

The times people have asked me to write it in the agreement that we will use those systems at their event....I was really making that up too.

I surrender...Clients' requesting specific brand speakers is completely normal. It happens so often in Cleveland that it has become a condition in contracts.

In my market, the main/primary/most common contract request is for specific talent. I guess it depends on what your client's value.

Luckily, I own a Bose system so if some misguided potential requires a Bose label on the speakers, we got dat.

P.S. I will holla when that happens for the first time.

It's OK, you can still hate it all you want

There is a difference between owning a system and actually using a system. I'm sure if I owned a system, but never used it, and never missed an opportunity to talk down about it, I wouldn't get many people requesting it either.:tribiggrin:

I'm sorry you don't believe it happens. You can try to twist it any way you'd like. Of course, talent comes first. No one is going to request a hack dj just because of his gear. No one has suggested otherwise except you. But all you need to do is ask just about ANYONE who USES this system on a regular basis, and you'll hear a very similar thing.

Does it really make sense that all of us are just making this up?

Before this goes any further, this is not a put down of anyone else's system. Lots of great systems out there. Someone just simply requested one type of system and you find it impossible....just because it's never happened to you. That's about as closed minded as you can get.

It's like saying.......I don't think baseball players get $15 million dollars to play baseball. No one has ever offered me 15 million to play. Therefore, it has not happened. Even though i've heard from multiple sources that it happens, i'm not believing it....and i'm going to let everyone know I don't believe it.

None of this means anyone is better than anyone else because of the equipment they use. It's just a sound system, for gosh sakes. But some people cannot help posting something negative when someone mentions the name.

So, what you are suggesting...is someone posted some fake request about needing a system in LA. Then, someone from Cleveland, just to keep the hoax going...made up a story to back it up. Possible, I guess.

I also sell a talent-based service. The fact that I use Bose (among others that I use) is a separate topic. I have no idea how the person looking to rent the Bose system sells, nor do I care, to be frank. In this example, it's a rental for me - any talent concerns (short of abusing my rental system) are between the client and the D.J. I might rent to.

I've never been to Cleveland or New Orleans, but where I'm from "ridiculous" and "normal" aren't antonyms. Specific equipment requests (of MANY varieties) are UNcommon (or ABnormal, if you prefer), but they do happen. I'm sure on the infrequent ocassion that they happen, if you find them "ridiculous", there's someone else who doesn't who would be happy to serve that client.

It HAS happened to me, so I "holla"'d.

Maybe a clarification is in order on my end -

I would be the one that would want a Bose system available to me for the reception. NOT necessarily the client wanting, or demanding it.

I just know how it sounds & that is my tool of choice.

In a 'for instance' - this past weekend, I played along with a band for a wedding reception - and when I arrived I was simply plugging my console in to their mixer & PA - a combination of 15" EV Force tops & a newer 18" JBL Powered subwoofer.

Did it do the job? Yeah. It was ok. But twice, I had the FOB come up during my set, asking if I could turn it down just a bit - What I perceived as "ok" sound levels, was blasting out the first row of tables on the opposite side of the dance floor. Something I think I would've picked up sooner/ or not at all, if I was using my normal 2 L1, 4B1 setup.


C'est la vie.

An extra pole is always good for the extra hole err space that needs to be filled!
Hey they are all good. I am a Bose user too....so sue me! :yoBow:
