The clean version came up on my service tonight and it made me think. There are alot of times that I play this at certain functions (generally the clean version but not always). It made me wonder are there any oddball songs that you guys play?

I don't play either of them, but I used to get requests (especially from the Canadian audience!) for Clarence Carter's "Strokin'." And, one of the guys that wrote "The Curley Shuffle" (nyuk-nyuk-nyuk) is from the area...

It's been a while since I got a request for Strokin but it used to be common. I played it at an 80s dance a couple of months ago it packed the floor

I got asked for this one last night. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't dream of playing it but I know this bunch real well lol

Gotta good story about the Trailer Park Boys. Went to Hawaii to sink a carrier during RIMPAC 2006 (actually flat top Amphib assault ship USS BELLEAU WOOD). We operated out of PMRF aka Pacific Missile Range Facility which was the home of Ronald Ray-gun's famed Star Wars Missile Defence Program. If you have ever been in the control centre of that place it is like Houston control on Steroids with 4 big massive screens on the front bulkhead with all the mission seats in front like H.C. in the Apollo Moonshot documentaries. So, when we got there, they had some mad hi-tech imagery on three of the screens one was live feed of firing ship from an orbiting Orion a/c, other was a general operations plot and the other was a live camera feed from an orbiting aircraft over the target ship. The fourth screen was reserved for Trailer Park Boys during down times. They couldn't get the show on TV then in Hawaii so whenever us Canadians came each year we brought them the latest season on DVD (this was before the show was cancelled). The Range Staff loved us for that! Got some skookum video of the whole arrangement minus TPBs (obviously) and the SINKEX we did where we fast roped out of a stripped down Sea King Helo and blew the crap out of the bottom of the Carrier sized ship....
Definately one of the highlights of my career as I was understudying a US EOD Team for a SINKEX we did of one our ships the next year where I was the SINKEX Director (filmed on Discovery Channel). I knew a lot of the gang involved as well from my stint as Exchange Officer at NAVEODTECHDIV Indian Head Maryland for 3 years (another highlight).

John Denver's Thank God I'm A Country Boy usually gets the locals fired up, once they are half (or fully) in the bag. It's a very rural area (outside of the one decent sized city in the State) so most everyone can relate to 'life on the farm' in some way. This one, Cotton Eyed Joe and Callin' Baton Rouge usually garner lots of hootin, hollerin and knee slappin. We refer to it as 'getting their Clampett on'.
