Anyone get any good Black Friday deals?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
I have two nieces, my sister, and my Mother in Law to shop for...then I am officially finished. I am spending less this year on presents than the last 3 years. It would be A LOT less if I didn't buy my wife a new Laptop. That's the only reason I'm even close to what I spent last year, and 2 years before!

You're a good man Ricky. I am sure your relatives, and your wife especially, appreciate your generosity.

I leave the spending for the kids (4 of them) up to the wife. We budget a certain amount and that's it. With gifts being so expensive now, they don't get nearly as much (quantity) as they used to. I remember when I was little, the room was FULL of toys and I am sure my parents didn't pay more than a few hundred for all the kids. Not like that anymore, that's for sure.

Same here my wife does most of the shopping for the kids (6 of them) and the few other relatives we buy for. The older they get the more expensive they get lol

I'm the main gift buyer .. last year I spent a lot (laptops for wife and daughter and iPad for son) .. this year it will be a lot of small things and probably some cash for the kids.

My family is big on Christmas. Growing up, I was a bit spoiled with toys, video games, and stuff in general at CHristmas time as a kid. We always went all out decorating the Condo we lived in...My mom would put up 3 christmas trees, and we would light up the porch with so many lights it was like staring at a Christmas Sun...practically need sun glasses to look at it LOL.

My Wife's family is much more scaled down.

When we go to my parents for Christmas, my brothers and sisters end up purchasing a lot of presents for us. I feel a bit ashamed if I don't purchase them presents. My son had 4 large gift bags full of presents coming home from Christmas in 2013. He received more presents from my parents and his uncles, and aunt than we gave him by far...My wife and I ended up with a lot of presents as well, and I felt bad only buying each of them literally 1 present. In 2014 and 2015 I joined all of them in the mass xmas present purchasing. ...This year, my family is real tight with money due to some things going on, so we all agreed on a $30 purchase per person limit. Hopefully everybody sticks to it this year.

At my parents house we have a big Christmas dinner with lots of appetizers, Salad, Ham, Turkey, other main courses, about 8 different sides, and multiple deserts to choose from. Going there for Xmas is easily a 7 to 8 hour affair, and my wife is ready to leave by 5 pm when we arrive around Noon. We are the first to leave to go home because my wife can't stand sitting in there so long. However my family sticks around until 10 or 11 pm at night before driving back home. It's an all day affair pretty much. They are Serious about Christmas.

With my Wife's family...We have a small Xmas dinner (Ham, and maybe 4 or 5 sides to choose from, and 1 pie to eat). Many less presents are exchanged. They do 1 present per person....sometimes 2. We have Dinner, and the whole process is maybe 2.5 to 3 hours TOPS.

Its been interesting seeing the differences in how families handle the holidays after becoming married.

Luckily, we go to my Mother's house for Christmas. For me, that's a 8 minute ride. For my sister, about 45 min. And my brother gets the 2.5 hour shaft (but we just went to his house for Thanksgiving, so it works out). We'll have maybe 12-13 people this year. Mom's doing the meats, everyone else is handling sides/deserts. I (yes me) am going to try and make potatoes au gratin, roasted brussel sprouts, green bean casserole (my son's request), and maybe a roasted fennel dish I saw on FB (and printed off the recipe). My wife will probably roast some sweet potatoes and make an appetizer.

I do expect to eat a lot, so I'm with Ricky.

We had two 47" Vizios previously that were awesome.

Costco does a rigorous testing program before they sell certain models of TV's, which is why we buy there.

Most of the Vizio sold by Walmart are not up to the same standards as there regular line. They make a line of very similar looking but lower quality product specifically for Walmart

My 37 inch 720P LCD Vizio from 2006 that was bought as an open box model at the time for like $700 (Regular price on those at the time was like $1400) from Circuit City still works PERFECTLY. Sits in my basement today. I like how it has so many input options on the back and side panels...More than most TVs today have.

They don't even make 37 inch size any more. They were doing 39 inch for a while, and I think they have done away with that and just make 40 inch TVs now.

The wife got me a Vizio smart 50incher last year for Christmas, and as the year is almost up , have not had one single problem with it.
