Life is better for those who don't get messed up with bull crap and remain happy, DJing with their home stereos and providing what MOST people want: just somebody to play some bloody good music and not be a freaking jerk about it--because when people want the Cirque De Soleil, they buy tickets for it.

Life is GOOD :D:D:D:D

My PM Box Is Full And I Cannot Send

This is to one of my good friends here:

It's been only three, I've already taken that stuff off of my site, and Pro means nothing when people who book appointments with me do not even show up to meet me, or even when acquaintances tell me that I'm too darned expensive.

I'm not a DJ right now. I'll get back to you if I ever get a gig, unless I get that job at the furniture store first.

Thanks.

Johnny,

You're like an old wife. There ain't no livin' with ya... but there ain't no livin' without ya. :D

You remind me of a gal I used to date. I only heard from her when she wanted to BCM ~ bitch, complain and moan. So I'll tell you what I told her: You can play to win or you can play to lose. It's your choice to make.

I don't know what a Cirque De Soleil is. French for some kinda circus? :dontknow: I notice your English gets better when you want something. ;)

Now look... I have told you and told you... and TOLD YOU. You ain't gonna sell people on no DJ company while you're still using that old RS stuff I sold you years ago. It was supposed to tide yas over 'til ya got better. :D

Now git yer ass out there and start marketing to your market. If you'd stop pricing yourself out of it, you'd be out there DJing instead of bitchin' here on the forums. ;)

Ya I'm A Bitch

Fred's right, I think. This is what I was talking about:

Instead of worrying about the big shot DJs, I've taken the time to focus on reality (note that I have hardly been around HERE lately).

I figured that I've already lost, playing the "Professional DJ" game, and I'm still losing, so why don't I try something where I might "win", or, at least, not "lose" so much. By losing, I mean not DJing AT ALL and watching my equipment rust while I make $0.

So, I'm checking out the REALITY which is the craigslist mentality. I'm hearing about it more and more from people around me.

You can see ads titled, "CHEAP DJ!" and stuff like that. One guy has, "WOW!...4 hours of dance music for $300!"

His advertised location was outside of my area, until I started posting ads. Actually, he and many others started saying that they serve my area after that, but "travel charges may apply."

So, this morning, because it took me until then to think about how I'm going to get over this latest fit, I decided THIS:

"ABBOTSFORD DJ--Hire Local & Pay Less"

My "craigslist special is 5 hours for $275.

I have nothing to lose. BUT, my reasoning was, on one hand, I can give people what they want: a CHEAP service (I would show up with less than half of what I have, and offer no guarantees and stuff); and, on the other hand, they will come an see what they get for JUST A LITTLE MORE MONEY.

So, I JUST got off the phone with a girl who was intrigued by my 5hr/$275 ad. I explained the fact that she would need my $475 package for what she wanted. She was cool with that. She's going to check out my lights and stuff next Wednesday (unless she flakes out on me--which is a whole other chapter of this sob story).

And that's all for now, I guess.

OHHHHH! That explains the rant in post # 1.. When I saw the . I thought it was that time of the month. You are taking a route that most DJ 's would call bottom feeding. I look at it as a smart tactic. Why have your gear sit around and collect dust? When you can tap into a market that can bring in more income at a lower rate. When times are slow, this is the smart thing to do. I wish you well with the idea and I would do the same thing if I had to.

:sqbiggrin:Johnny, if you really want to get what your worth, you need to invest and upgrade to a new system like this. Don't ever give in or give up.

Hey... 30% of something is better than 100% of nothing. :D
