Ya I'm A Bitch
Fred's right, I think. This is what I was talking about:
Instead of worrying about the big shot DJs, I've taken the time to focus on reality (note that I have hardly been around HERE lately).
I figured that I've already lost, playing the "Professional DJ" game, and I'm still losing, so why don't I try something where I might "win", or, at least, not "lose" so much. By losing, I mean not DJing AT ALL and watching my equipment rust while I make $0.
So, I'm checking out the REALITY which is the craigslist mentality. I'm hearing about it more and more from people around me.
You can see ads titled, "CHEAP DJ!" and stuff like that. One guy has, "WOW!...4 hours of dance music for $300!"
His advertised location was outside of my area, until I started posting ads. Actually, he and many others started saying that they serve my area after that, but "travel charges may apply."
So, this morning, because it took me until then to think about how I'm going to get over this latest fit, I decided THIS:
"ABBOTSFORD DJ--Hire Local & Pay Less"
My "craigslist special is 5 hours for $275.
I have nothing to lose. BUT, my reasoning was, on one hand, I can give people what they want: a CHEAP service (I would show up with less than half of what I have, and offer no guarantees and stuff); and, on the other hand, they will come an see what they get for JUST A LITTLE MORE MONEY.
So, I JUST got off the phone with a girl who was intrigued by my 5hr/$275 ad. I explained the fact that she would need my $475 package for what she wanted. She was cool with that. She's going to check out my lights and stuff next Wednesday (unless she flakes out on me--which is a whole other chapter of this sob story).
And that's all for now, I guess.
