OK so Im upgrading my lighting this year and I already went ahead and bought 2 martin scx800, & 1 Martin scx600. I am still missing one more Martin Scx600 which I was planning on getting soon. But now I am debating if I should just get rid of the scanners and get 2 moving heads. I will be using this mostly for weddings. What is everyones thoughts and input?

Or do you guys recommend, keeping the 4 scanners with the truss and later down the line add the moving heads with the vertical trusses?

I like options. You have them now, so they're options in your 'fleet'. I have scanners, cans, etc, etc. I don't have any moving heads yet but that's on my bucket list. Sometimes its all about options.

As Tigger mentioned you have the ability to pick and use what you need for events. I've got 4 flat mirror scanners, 2 barrel mirror scanners, 4 color changers, 4 moving heads, 8 Colorsplash Jr.'s, 8 Par 64's, etc. And can use 18 feet of trussing, tripods, etc. this way you can put together the light show you need for specific events. Either way if you use truss or tripods don't forget the safety cables and spread the load evenly on the truss or the tripod crossbar.

Maestro I dont know too much about lighting, just getting into lighting. So I pretty much use them on sound active mode and I love them. A friend came over the other day that use to have the Martin Roboscans and we put the scx 800 next to the scx600 and he loved the scx800 much better. And since the Scx800 are discontinued you can get them very cheap brand new. I just got freestyler with a dong and im messing around with it, but I still have a lot of learning to do before I start programming my own shows.

If I may ask, where are you getting the SCX800's 'very cheap brand new' - if they're discontinued?

Scanner prices are crashing in the advent of the exciting new L.E.D. Moving Heads. The new L.E.D.s are actually brighter than traditional halogen bulbs, produce warmer color temperatures, and do more than just produce a gobo projection.
The Q Spot 260 for example, has interchangeable gobos, allowing you to easily install a custom monogram which can be keenly focused and projected on your choice of the wall, ceiling, or floor. Another great advantage is the low power comsumption on the LED fixture--no more blowing circuit breakers.
Moving heads are surely the way to go!View attachment 24786

It does appear as if you mentioned the gobo for mover which projected the name on the dancefloor and picture provided were one in the same. I believe Mr Maestro was just noting that they were not one in the same. I had the same question but Steve Maestro noted it first. So in fact it is a PR1 Gobo Mr Cie would you provide a gobo shot of what your mover provided to show the good folks the difference? Steve Cie since gaining the Movers do you still have the PR1? and use it?
