My Bio
Hey Jon Tuck,
I started thinking about DJ'ing some time last year (or maybe the year before). I was at a client's house fixing his computer and asked him, "Hey! What's that?!" as I pointed to a heap of...something...in the corner. He said it was his DJ gear and invited me out w/ him. I was immediately interested and took him up on it. After that, I read several books, a buttload of DJ websites, and serverd as an unpaid apprentice to him and several other DJs. This year, in April, I started my own DJ company.
I am based in the Philly suburbs (Go Phils!) and since April have done a handful of parties, a handful of bar gigs, and one wedding (solo). I have recently hooked up w/ a multi-op and am defiling their good name w/ my newbie skills until I get enough experience to fly my own flag.
But I'm trying to do everything right. I bought good equipment, I'm paying for my music, I have insurance, blah, blah, blah. Have never been a fly-by-nighter. Hence, my frequent trips to ODJT.com and others. Still reading, still apprenticing, still learning. So much more than just showing up and pushing "Play!" I always knew there would be more to it, but I'm learning things like sales, marketing, sound engineering, etc. I was referred to this site by "RicTrax," Mr. Rick Haggard, to whom I say, "Thanks."
My pleasure to meet you all.
