What speaker tops did you buy and why?

Some have said that what we're using to the event in the park isn't enough for that outside gig. What we've done it with in the past has been good enough. More than good enough.

As I said before it's about using professional quality gear and not some cheap garbage to do this event with.

It doesnt matter what kind of gear you have or how good it is if it's not enough quality won't help

In all reality the organizers should have a FOH system there that you just plug in to

What you're proposing is not going to happen. This guy is not going to have a system there that we just plug into. He's not going to spend money for that. He's the same guy that after we did the event 2 years in a row for $250 and asked for $300 he wasn't willing to pay that. He told us he could get anybody to do it for $250. The people he got to do it that year for that price was the Titanic hitting the iceberg. My point is without going any further is he's not going to supply the gear. That's for us to do that part and we will. Also what we will be using for this event will be just fine. It will be more than good enough for this event. For this event and what he wants to pay we wouldn't supply anything more than what we're bringing to do this event.

Don't know how you can spend that much time & energy on a very low price other than you are doing the event to feed your ego.
Being retired I still pick up an event here & there at my pleasure. The fact that I started out as a sound & lighting company I still have contacts that I still connect with from time to time. Picked up a few gigs running lights for a local venue. Don't make but $ 150.00 a night for about 4 hours work Come in and start up the light controller , turn on a couple of hazers, position some movers, do a 3 hour show & reconnect with people from the past. I am having fun! When this turns into work I'll price myself out of work.
Mix , Enjoy you event & have fun!!

Also what we will be using for this event will be just fine. It will be more than good enough for this event
So this is one of the same events you showed up at with 50 speakers in the past? Now 4 will get the job done? And you have absolutely no idea how the Mackies will perform because you haven’t had them out for a test run.

I might take a detour after leaving the upstate NY wedding I’m attending that Friday and check this event out before heading back South.

It’s on Saturday, right?

I was talking about years ago and not today. What we're getting paid for this one is more than what I posted earlier in this thread. I worked for him and another guy a few times and that's how I got to know him.

It's in Saturday August 29th. I was just on the phone talking to my buddy and I said that this setup is what he will get for the price he's paying us. Before we used 4 double 15's that were passive and that was it for the speakers besides a monitor on stage with us.

There's no making up anything! Last year we got paid $500 and this year I asked can we get $600 and without hesitation he said yes.
You have a signed contract??? I have never asked a Client if I can get a certain dollar amount, they ask me if I am available and then I quote them a price, if they don’t like it that’s ok. I know my value.

If I remember correctly this is an all day event where you have to be there for many many hours.

How many performers is he paying that day?

I don't know for sure. It's us 3 and he might have a headliner for the event. Tunes4046 I hear you. I know this person and I know how he likes to operate. So I decided to ask for more money and he didn't hesitate. That's because he knows what he's getting with us doing the event. What this event is about is it keeps me busy working. Also it's a drama free event. There will be a state trooper in a car there along with the fire department and booths for different health issues. Maybe a vendor or 2. Also I get to make a little money that I can add on to the rest.

I'm excited about doing this event this year because I need something to pick up my spirits with all that's going on with my health. I'm usually not a big talker on the mic. I like to let the music I play and my mixing do the talking. I think I might want to hype it up a bit this year. Not too much for people to get annoyed because I hate a DJ who doesn't know when to shut up so we can hear the music.
