I would just keep the K12s. They work fine. Just keep maximizing your income and keep expenditures to a minimum. I don't like how current ongoing inflation is, and the lay offs at companies are occurring right now. The company I work for is barely hiring people when they were hiring all sorts of people 1 year ago, and only currently hiring for the worst shifts that hardly anybody wants, and actually making moves to try to get people to quit. They changed our schedules around. My schedule was changed to weekend 12.5 hour shifts (WTF wants to work 12.5 hour shifts Friday thru Sunday?) when they have known since I was hired in 2021 that I need Saturdays off, and am a DJ. After multiple talks with upper management, they say I am stuck on the schedule they gave me for at least 6 weeks before there is any potential move to the schedule I should have been given. I have been dealt a totally unfair card. Been there for 18 months, and got the worst schedule while others in other departments who only been there 6 months got the best schedule... So I'm going to be earning less money at work thanks to them after this week, way less money

Anyway, enough about my current situation and what I perceive to be a time period to be more frugal with our wallets and carefully consider spending money on expensive items.

If you really want to buy speakers and want Line Array, and don't want to drop BOSE or EV asking prices, I suggest the Harbinger MLS1000. I bet you really like them, and they are cost effective! Also, don't buy them now. Wait until close to Memorial Day Weekend. I bet they will be on sale at least $200 OFF when that sale starts at Musicians friend or Guitar Center.

What's your assessment of a single QSC K10 versus the Harbiner MLS1000? Does the Harbinger have as much volume as the QSC?

One should be thinking about dispersion and throw when considering their speaker inventory. The narrower the horizontal or vertical dispersion, the further a speaker can throw its energy. A selection of speakers with different coverage patterns might be more advantageous than just an extra set of something with a similar pattern to what you already have.

The K10 has 90 degree horizontal dispersion, the K12 has 75 degree and the K8 is 110 degree. The K8 is the speaker you want when set up in the middle of the long wall in a rectangular room. The K12 would be better if set up on the short wall of the same room.

True column radiator speakers like the Bose L1 Pro32 have narrow vertical dispersion to increase their throw and wide horizontal dispersion due to their narrow size. Column speakers with just 4-6 cones at the top of the column aren't really much different in performance than a point source speaker below ~2 kHz. They just look nicer (IMHO). The Harbinger 1000 has 6x 2.75 speakers up top.

Harbinger MLS1000 has a 150 degree dispersion. It's not as wide as the newer Bose LPro systems, but pretty good.

Yes, the Harbinger MLS1000 sounds cleaner, and better than the old K10. It really depends on your application in terms of what you want though. If you want to eliminate the speaker stands, and provide sound through out the room they make sense. If you want to direct sound onto the dancing area, but perhaps have it a little quieter off to the sides, then conventional 2 way speakers make more sense.

This might be used for mobile dj but it's really more for playing live. So far, the place I play a single k10 is overkill.

The MLS1000 is rated at 123 DB. I think my old Alto TS110A are rated at 118 DB. The MLS900 might be more of what you want if you have no intention of using it for deeajaying.

Honestly, I know a solo guitarist that will play with a Bose L1 Compact in bars, and he turns that thing up and it fills the room, and gets plenty loud for the bars he plays. He also sets up a pair of K8s, and those 2 speakers are more than enough for what he does.

I say it depends on the type events you do regularly. Some events will need more and others not that much.. I'm a fan of 15" speakers. Others they don't. I suggest if you do decide to get a new set of speakers, just make sure it's a well known manufacturer that makes good products.

I just finished placing an order for one of the Harbinger MLS1000 units from Musicians Friend. $650 tax/shipping included. They apparently put it on special. I'll give it a try next week then decide how many of my K10s to sell off and whether to buy a 2nd Harbinger unit. I really would have preferred to demo it but my local GC doesn't have any in stock. I'm thinking for my live band stuff this should work very well plus, if I stack it on top of one of my 15" Alto subs, should make for a kicking little rig that also gets rid of the mixer I've been having to use. I just love new toys.

Dang it. MF's site said they had it in stock and then, after I pay for the order, I get a "It's on backorder". Ugh. Guess I'll give it a few days then decide whether to keep the order or cancel it.

Try Guitar Center...The GC up my way had at least 5 of them in stock on the showroom floor.

On sale for $639 there

I saw on Ebay one that was pre-owned for sell along with other components of the speaker that were pre-owned for sell. When I see this it tells me to stay away.

One of the things I took in to consideration when I bought the Polar 12's was durability. I had a bit of a concern where the unit is 3 pieces and attaches together it may be an issue over time but everything i read tells me it will be ok But what happens if someone bumps in to it? For the most part I am behind the table all night so I can watch for that. In your case when you are running an event in the venue you may not have the luxury of that

Holy cow! I just finished un-boxing and setting up the MLS1000. I have it setup in my little music room/office (12X12) and playing spotify thru bluetooth. First thought, man, that sure is some nice bottom end. Top end is nice and clean and has better air than my old Bose L1M2. I only have the 1 unit, about 50% up and it's rattling the floors but good. I have another unit on backorder with Musician's Friend. Was planning to cancel but I think I'm going to go ahead and get a 2nd unit. This should be way more than I'll ever need for the band thing as well as any mobile DJ things I pickup. I'll be putting my QSC K10s (3) up for sale tomorrow. No need for them any more.

One thing I really like are a couple of buttons on the mixer to set what mode you want to run it in. I have it set to stereo with standard voicing. Very smooth and it thumps way more than I expected. I'll be curious to try this out by stacking it over the top of my Alto 15" subs. This is a lot of bang for the buck.

Glad you like it.

UPDATE: After using the MLS 1000 a bit this weekend, a few comments.

1) The bass is much better than what I was expecting. It kills the bass from the QSC K10s.
2) The bluetooth is easy but it doesn't appear to be stereo compatible (only 1 side plays)
3) Tried using a 1/8" cable into channel 4 but it has way too much buzzing. Ended up taking my laptop headphone out (haven't tried USB converters yet) into channel 3 and it's much more quiet.
4) To eliminate an external mixer, you have to put the unit close by. When you're right against the unit, there's a big separation between highs and lows. Kinda weird.

I'll take this up to the venue soon and try it out in a bigger room setting. Everything I'd read said this was on par with a traditional 500-watt speaker. I disagree. My ears say this is more in line with a 1000-watt box. The MLS1000 is rated at 1000 watts peak. On tone, bottom-end kicks hard. The highs are clear and bright with plenty of air on top. On my other speakers, I've always bumped highs just a bit but on this one it's perfectly fine at a flat eq. I'm planning to go back down to GC and snag another one. Hopefully, my QSCs will sell easily which should pay for 2 of the MLS1000 units. Even Steven.

Let me ask you this since you own them. What are the good and bad things about the QSC speakers?
