First Cancelation because of Corona Virus

My 5/16 client has cancelled. They are postponing their wedding all the way to next year. It looks like the new date will be June 26th, 2021. ....Unbelievable :(

They could choose an April Saturday with the venue, but are worried this same scenario could play out next Spring, so they think pushing all the way back to the end of June is the best decision.

...This is what I was afraid of. People will think that shut downs will be a new norm when there is a new Virus out there going around. :(
Sucks man sucks

So far I've had 4 events reschedule. I had one Bride & Groom cancel their May 2nd reception. Provided them a full refund. Hopefully, the others will reschedule and not cancel; but if they do full refunds will be provided.
So many people are asking for refunds luckily some accept ( like your clients ) the rules and reschedule

Everything through mid May has now been cancelled or rescheduled. Last events we did were March 8. So, at least 2 months with no events. we have may 22 and 29th weekend still scheduled now, bit not looking great.
Same for everyone in this type of buisness

Pick your favourite...Unless it's N95 or comparable these will do the same job and maybe better. Washable and reusable too. I wear mine when I'm out now I just have the bandanna style you can see it on my face in this pic

I don't own any bandanas. They have never been my cup of tea. However, because I now feel this crisis is going to be the current state of operation for at a minimum of the next 5 weeks, I ordered a 5 pack of "SA GEAR FACE MASKS" from Amazon. Some cool designs are on the bandanas. I should receive them between April 2nd and April 8th. ...$19.99 with free shipping.

Once the numbers get above 10,000 here in Maryland, I will defenitely be wearing a mask when I head to the grocery store.

...Debating if I need it at work...My work is still open and planning to stay open through out this whole thing...We distribute Pool Supplies, Equipment, Parts, and chemicals so some how we are "Essential" during the shut down.

The bandannas work great. As for work I don't know what the rules are down there but up here anyone can come out of their job if they have any valid reason right now from being immune compromised to being in need of child care and still qualify for employment insurance and be called back when this is over

Just got notice my 4/27 is re-scheduling. Big surprise (not). My Prom got bumped to 5/8, but I'm not expecting them to keep the date. In fact, I just saw on FB where the Alabama governor just did an executive order, forcing all K-12 students to repeat the same grade next year. I guess I'll be doing their prom for the same group of kids, next year. Boy, I bet there's about to be a firestorm of people fussing about the repeat of the school year.

Not sure why they would have to redo an entire year since they went from Labor Day to beginning of March, and should be having either tele-work or actual online classwork by now. So the effective loss is maybe a month.

edit - Looking on line, it seems they just will hold the remainder of the current year remotely .. and reassess individual students at the start of next year to see what might need to be done.

In NY the regents exams are given in January and June. I"m hoping for the HS kids that are going to miss June's exam can take them in January and have a graduation ceremony then. It will also give them 3 months of classes to replace what they missed this year. That's probably too logical for the state to do though.

That's an April Fools prank. Saw the same thing up in WA state.

This thing with going to stores is something else. Yesterday we went to Micro Center and it was over a 2 hour wait to get in the store. We came back today and the wait was shorter today. The issue couldn't pay with cash. Had to use a card. Luckily I had the money in one of my accounts. Real crazy to me. Go in Shoprite and no such thing.

The reason is many companies don't have the products to clean or sanitize paper money and coins. Lots of stores are requesting charge cards or debit ONLY.

This is the big paradigm shift to all digital transactions. Only took a Pandemic to put the final nail in the coffin to carrying cash.

I noticed some grocery stores are only offering CASH accepted in self check out. Human cashiers are only accepting cards. Certain things I almost ALWAYS pay cash for over the years. Gas being one of them, typically because there is a 4 cent discount on using cash at a number of local gas stations. Also, I always believed in helping local businesses out by paying in cash. It saves them the credit processing fee. ...I usually use my card at places like WAL MART, TARGET, ...big box companies, or when traveling abroad I use credit cards.

Because I am running low on cash...I actually used a Credit Card to purchase Grocery items at Costco yesterday. I can't remember the last time I used a CC to buy groceries. Maybe the recession was the last time, but with bank accounts running lower than they have in like a decade...I foresee myself using my credit card more in the coming 30 days. The mortgage comes out of my next and wife's paycheck tomorrow...which basically wipes most of our paychecks away.

Thankful I have had a job. IF I was only deejaying the last 4 months, I would be completely broke right now as I have had only a handful of events since November.

I know many people that will do everything in their power to avoid moving to digital transactions and if there's a location that refuses to accept cash or check, then they ain't comin' back. I don't believe you'll see stores stop accepting cash or checks in our lifetime. They would be stupid to turn away cash.

I always use my credit card at Costco .. I get both 2% back on card purchases (their Visa) and 2% back for my business membership

I don't have those...BUT having their VISA would be advantageous. I really don't want another credit card though. I have one card that gives me 1% to 2% cash back on gas station and restaurant purchases. But, after a while of using it, I felt the cash back was pretty minimal in the end.

More cancellations today - leading right into summer. I think I'm going to be on vacation until September,

My events tend to be large meetings or based around fundraising. You can't plan or produce large events during a shutdown because thee's no way to coordinate with vendors or suppliers who are shut down. Also, no one want's to be the next Biogen where every conference attendee gets a lanyard and an order to self quarantine. Fundraisers make no sense if all your corporate and wealthy donors are reeling from their stock losses. It's bad taste to lay off your employees and then hand out a $50,000 check at a black tie event. (Just ask the JFK Performing Arts Center - which just got $25 Million in the bailout then immediately laid off over 700 of it's employees.)

We're all in this together.
(...and some people have a little more togetherness than the rest of us.)

This whole situation is going to have far greater economic implications than everyone expects. There is a lot people do not think about.

-ALL of the Tax Revenue is going to be FAR decreased from normal revenues going into state, local, and federal government. ...In a year where Debt is WAY HIGHER for all of these governments.

-There will be a large number of people who will eventually be added to the HOMELESS population out there because they fell behind and end up getting evicted when things are back to normal.

-Prices on particular products WILL be higher priced, the prices are already being increased now. Many different paper products. Hand Sanitizer...Actually lots of various grocery products are going to increase in price. However, many other things are going to experience DEFLATION because of this. Auto companies are going to have to sell at a discount to move vehicles for a long time to come. Airlines will be in a deflationary period for quite a while. ...Vacation rentals, Cruises. A number of things will be effected and a negative price trend will be in effect.

-China Trade War 2.0 is likely to occur as USA decides to bring manufacturing of vital supplies and products back to our shores. THIS NEEDS TO BE A MUST FOR PHARMACEUTICAL/DRUGS/MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. Other industries will follow suit. Will be good for USA in the long run. ...However, prices on these particular things will likely increase as well...unless regulation takes place.

50% of more of our work force will experience a declline in income this year.

I agreed with you up to a certain point. Some gas stations charge extra if you pay with a card. Then others, the really big gas stations like BP which is my favorite, they charge the same. Those gas stations with ridiculously low prices will charge more if you use a card. That charge is so they don't have to pay those fees you do.
