Hi Ron... i cant quite put my finger on the exact issue...but it just seems a bit "dated" with fonts photos and videos all over the place... ideally something a little less busy and more streamlined would seem to be more professional and appeal to younger brides and grooms.

Rick Ryan can probably be of huge help to ya... he really brought his site up to snuff over the last few months with the help of many members here...

At first glance, with the background image, it looks overall too dark. I would also try to avoid yellow fonts. I think what looks dated it the simple scrolling text. I would also get rid of photos that weren't tack sharp and you might need to do some creative cropping on a few others.

Appreciate your time. I plan on collecting responses for about a week and then begin revisions; but, have considered a video background for a while.
Thanks again.

On your "Why a DJ page" one of the bullet points is duplicated. Maybe you are really driving this point home? LOL

HAHA This is the kind of feedback I am looking for. But will probably be reducing the number of pages overall. Thanks for your time.

Oh man, I'm awful with websites. I'll have to agree with Chris' first comment. The fonts are very dated, everything's too big and bold. The mess of graphics at the bottom need cleaning up badly.

I think one's website is perhaps the most important thing currently in attracting clients to your services. Even past clients looking to simply get in touch with you may see an outdated or poor quality site as a reason to rethink their decision and consider newer options. So with that said, I'll just go over bullet points as to what I found to be lacking or believing needs to be removed or changed. I spent a lot of time on my site (djtaso.com), and asked MANY females of all ages for their opinions before getting to my final version, and therefore have learned how much details matter.

- When I go to a site, I need something that grabs my attention right away... whether its a photo, a video a company name, a tag line... etc. Your site kinda has none of that. I kinda went to the photo first... but what I saw was a small and VERY dark, non flattering photo, that didn't convey anything. Then I saw the text... outdated fonts, with terrible color combinations. What makes it worse is that it doesn't have a flow as to what I should be reading next. It's text in the most random non organized places. I didn't even realize there were menu options until a few minutes of viewing.

- More TINY photos are just a waste. If you're gonna use photos, use larger more vibrant and exciting photos with color or something dramatic.

- You have a video on the home page that has people dancing... but it starts with a slower song... total buzz kill. There are also people speaking in it that you have no context to why they're talking and what they're talking about. Videos need to convey excitement and shwocase what it is you do or what you create in terms of energy and excitement.

- Your wedding page becomes much harder to read with all the different colors, and lack of clear contrast with the background. Your specials page is even harder where additional colors are added, and without the use of clear header and subject lines to know what it is you're writing about.

- Your social media page is lacking. Boring photos again without any clear purpose to them as to what they convey other than random people dancing. @djtaso is mine, and while I don't believe I'm the best at social media... it has worked very well in my favor.

Bottom line, your site needs to convey what it is that you do, and how you do it.... visually. No one wants to read anymore. They want to see large beautiful graphics and videos that ENTICE them to want to read. Connect with professionals at the events you do and grab their video and photos... even offer to pay them for their content.

On a side note... I revisited the video on your home page... I stopped watching before it even got that far cause I was bored of it and thought I saw enough of what I needed... but apparantly after 3 minutes in, the content gets more exciting. Here's the issue... if I didn't last that far to see that... no one else will either. Cut the first 3 minutes out. And shorten the video overall. It doesn't need to be more than a minute when doing a highlight reel for this purpose... no one will watch more. If they want more, that's when specific event recaps come in with videos dedicated to specific events.

The site likely needs a bottoms up re-design. I'll just take a look at your first impression and break it down:

I can't easily tell from this ^ what the actual name of your company is. The first steps to fixing it would be:

- Invest in a logo for the company. Your header shouldn't be all text.

- I'd remove "Fully licensed & insured" from your header. Put in on a FAQ somewhere. But you're giving up precious moments of attention for a throwaway line that isn't any better than "state of the art equipment"

- Get rid of "LLC" for marketing purposes. Your potential clients do not need to know your business structure. If you want to use it in a footer for your copyright notice.. that's fine.

- I'd also clean up the use of multiple fonts.

Your header should end up as something like:

RBC Audio (Logo)
Charleston's Premier Wedding DJ Service

- As noted, the semi-script font in your navigation bar is pretty dated looking

- Then, in your menu the "Take the Next Step" and the "Premier Charleston Wedding DJ RCBAudio" link do the same thing. Keep the bigger call to action, kill the second link. Again - it's taking up premium real estate for no real purpose.

Ross brings up some really good points. I suggest maybe finding a new domain name, too. RBC Audio may be the name of your company, but it doesn't need to be your domain name. It's much easier for people to remember PremierCharlestonDJ.com than it is to remember RBC Audio. And if people are searching for Charleston DJ in a google search, you're likely to rank higher in the results (with some good content added to the page).

PremierCharlestonDJ.com is available, so you should grab it while you can. Thank me later.
