I need something simple, to run MP3's with. I have an external drive with older music that I do not want to mix with my current music that I run on OTS.
Kindle Fire HD table. $80 at Target for an 8".
If you just want an MP3 app simply to play MP3’s there’s a ton of options. If you’re looking for something to mix with, then Mixxx (as @Jeff Romard) suggested is a good choice. If you’re looking for something to make a more automatic mix, perhaps Mixmeister is something to consider.

Haters gonna hate ... I find it the easiest to use software player for simple playback. I can remote in from my iPad, iPhone or Apple Watch and control it .. with the phone/tablet I can add songs, search the laptops database, rearrange the playlist on the fly .. all from the comfort of a lounge with beer in hand. And if you want to feel like you have a virus but don't it's great for that too![]()

For performance, I wholly agree .. for simple playback I wholly disagree. I have not found an easier or "better" solution for straight playlist playback. "Sidelists" and such work in DJ apps work fine, but the flexibility and simplicity of iTunes is really tough to beat .. as is the price.Itunes to me is like Alto to you. It's functional but there are much better options

Yes .. for actual DJ use, a dual deck (or more) setup is generally needed) .. for automatic playlist play, one isn't usually cueing.Maybe.
For me, the ability to preview/prelisten to the song before playing it, easily, is important. Having to load the song into a deck, having to run two instances of an application at the same time, etc., to do this, IMHO are not real world solutions to the problem. Also, I drink expensive Scotch.
Same could be said for Windows. And if you want to feel like you have a virus but don't it's great for that too![]()
Especially Windows 10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Same could be said for Windows.![]()
