at a dance on tuesday one of my mini kinta's croaked. second one i've lost..i like the effect and for the weight and price, good deal. I have one left..could get another one or try an ADJ Dekker (their variant of the chauvet item).
OR I could get something else...
Any suggestions?
I saw a swarm fx 5 at a wedding I did photography for, kinda like it - will do what the kinta did, adds strobes (don't have any..) and a lazer (have one, micro galaxain, use it at school dances)
Other suggestions? Ideas? Must be DMX.

I have and love 2 of the Chauvet Swarm Wash FX lights. Using them with the Sushi-DM and just figured out how to master/slave them with some custom presets... Really helps enhance the party.

Buying a Chauvet Freedom Stick set. Does anyone know if the Donner Wireless DMX transmitters work with these? Chauvet says only their 2.4ghz transmitter would work but I have a feeling that's just the brand protecting themselves.

Thoughts?

Wow... I use two of the Mini Kintas as well. Never had one fail, and hope I don't. I like the affect too. Wouldn't really want anything else I've seen out there. You probably use your Mini Kintas more than I... more gigs. About how many hours do you think you got out of the ones that failed?

I don't think the generic systems (Donner, et al) work with the proprietary ones .. DFi, WiFly, etc.

I can't speak directly for the Kinta's but I think it's luck of the draw. I have a mini-moon that is about 15 years old and works like a charm and others I've seen go in a gig or two. I lost two Revo 1s both a week after warranty

I get maybe 20 gigs from a mini kinta. the 'come on' and rotate but no LED ouput - so looks like same failure on both.

This one lasted much longer..it's a replacement from a guitar center warranty..I should call them and see if I have a warranty on this one before i do anything I suppose.

Last night used the play4 bar, one kinta and acrobat. worked well, but acrobat is heavy and another item to tote in and out.

gonna pull the trigger on 2 more DXR12's tomorrow and then get a wireless speaker setup. Coulda used it last night - venue remodeled and cocktails were in a separate room...no way to run wires. the bride canceled the second system for the ceremony or I coulda maybe made that work. Lots more setup than just a speaker and wire less receiver... got 2 more upcoming weddings where it would be nice to have remote speakers...if not now, when? LOL

Just bought a new competition pistol and had to spend $175 more on speedloaders and such. I hope my old holster will work.

I swear I can spend it faster than I can make it!

The acrobats may be heavy but for a single, do-it-all light they just can't be beat.

I have gone to only wash and moving heads for weddings. Im planning on getting some WashFXs. I currently have a couple PARFX9s for dance floor wash right now.

I think this is the best combo in my little ole opinion, wash with some movers , I really like the look, something I was considering switching over too.

I briefly looked into the WashFX, but saw it in person, and nearly went blind. Impossible to look anywhere close in that direction.

Do you guys get out from the DJ booth to see how things look from a guest perspective? You might think twice on the lights you buy.

After I setup, I routinely walk the room - checking sound and lighting. :)

Most fixtures are blindingly bright if you look directly at them.

If you use DMX, you can tone it down as much as you want.

That's why I'd like to have lights on the far side of the dance floor as well as my side. Tried it for a school dance and had wireless DMX issues..distance, room, not sure. Don't bring enough lights to a wedding to try it.

I do use DMX, and you can dim it all you want, the optics are cheap, and very hard to look at.

I didn't buy it for this reason.

I have been loving my Core Pars. Easy on the eye, you can even stare right into it, and it doesn't look like led diodes b/c of the design.

All the time. I actually will sit at several tables before the event starts to see what their view looks like and sounds like. I have also taken enough pictures with my phone, like guests do, to know that effect lights look terrible.

DMX and Proper positioning. Most of my wash is bounced off the ceilings or walls.

that a boy. Ceiling or wall bounce is fine, but you cannot aim these fixtures at a crowd, so if you are doing outdoor events, there are better choices.
