DMX controller (like the Chauvet Obey series) won't do it .. you need a DMX dongle and true DMX software to program movers properly. DMX hardware controllers are mainly for PARs and simple effect lights. Software solutions will run $350+ just for the software/dongle.Yeah, if I buy moving heads, I will probably go ahead and buy a DMX controller and go that route.

Eastern North Carolina.Silly question... but where are you generally based out of?
10w is really not much in terms of brightness. They'll only be useful in very dark rooms.I found these on Amazon:

They look pretty cool and the reviews are great. There are several video reviews, one of which shows them being controlled with an Obey70. A pair of those and a pair of those Kinta Derby lights would make a pretty decent light show I think.

No STAY AWAY FROM THOSE! Those are beams not spots. They have a very very narrow light, and are extremely ineffective unless you have a large quantity of them, or are meant to supplement moving head spots. Spots have wider beam angles and therefore larger diameter spots and cover more area with a single beam. Moving head "beams" are very narrow... in the above link you mentioned those lights have only a 3 degree beam... the lights ross mentioned have a 12 degree beam, meaning a diameter of about 4x larger... the lights I use have a 17 degree beam... thats 6x larger than the lights you're looking at.

I'm in Jacksonville. Home of Marine Corps base Camp Lejeune. Approximately an hour north of Wilmington. 1-2 hours from the OBX.Outer Banks area, or further South?
That’s also a beam of 5 degrees. Very tight and narrow and you’ll need a minimum of four to make even the slightest impression. It’s also why they tend to be cheaper at times as you need more of those.

I'm not sure which chauvet lights we're referencing but even if I find the cheapest one (and in no way am I promoting this one), it has a beam angle of 17 degrees which is definitely on the larger end of the spectrum.
Chauvet DJ Intimidator Spot 155 Bright Compact LED Moving Head
this ones slightly cheaper... slightly brighter... and a 16 degree beam angle American DJ Focus Spot One High Powered 35W LED Moving Head with Motorized Focus
if we wanna step it up, this marq fixture has a 75 w bulb (double everything else above), and a 13 degree beam angle. Its listed for 649 each but idjnow has a 15% off sale on it so bout $100 off... Marq Lighting Gesture Spot 400 75W LED Motorized Focus Spotlight
Well, do you want to drop a grand now... or $3-$400 now and after a little while say you want something better and still spend a grand... a higher total investment. Regardless, those above options weren't meant directly for you, but rather trying to point out larger beam options available by chauvet. Keep in mind you can find other options as well, such as this Chauvet DJ Intimidator Spot Duo 155 Dual 32W Moving Head Fixture and I'm sure if you call up these online places like others mentioned, you can get an even better price. All three of those lights are amazing but idk if I am going to be able to convince the wife that I need to drop the better part of a grand on two lights!!!
Oh I completely understand and agree with your point but convincing her is a whole other matter! Lol I will definitely do some exhaustive comparison shopping and call some of these retailers to see what kind of deal I can get. I really do appreciate your effort and input! I aspire to be at your level one day Taso. I was actually showing your website to some of my guys at work the other day!
