Oooohhh....that may be an up and coming problem. Explain to her that it's only on Spotify...

I did find it on a Google search...
but many of the results are NOT from MSQ.
No luck on Amazon

Spotify is starting to become an issue. This is the 3rd gig where they're pointing me there for music.

almost every gig I did this year had at least one Youtube special that's the way it's going to be I think

I don't mind youtube. There are plenty of online (and free) converters. Spotify is a different animal and I've only seen paid programs to do downloads. I hate having to download and use pirate copies like this but sometimes it's the only place it's available.

If necessary you could record it in Adobe, or whatever you use to record, in real time. it would be at least as clean as a Youtube rip

This is definitely an issue, both from a ethics standpoint and a SQ/tech standpoint. I pretty much refuse to use streaming/Internet/Bluetooth, etc., etc., etc. in live situations because of tech and access issues. But younger people don't seem to get it.

I was at a rehearsal for a children's production the other day, where kids will be dancing along with a projected video from a website. We'll have to rip the video. The adult in-charge was trying to show me the video along with the children's dance, and all she was getting on the computer was the "spiral of death" thing. She said "it worked all the other times." Great. But it only needs to _not_ work once, and if that's a critical time, like a live performance or a first dance at a wedding...

I 100% agree and concur.

There's no "ethical dilemma" here.
To rip a song from YouTube and then dispose of it after the wedding event is consistent with a time delay, an issue that has already been decided at both the Supreme Court Level and in a Special Letter of Intent from the Congressional Committee on Copyright.

If this were not the case, streaming services could not allow you to cache Copyrighted material on your local drive.

If you're not retaining the material then you have merely assisted the bride in exercising a right she already has. No different than her using Tivo to record her favorite TV show while she's busy getting married.

You have to make a choice between true customer service and the desire to be cheap.

Agreed, never heard of a "time delay" clause , very interesting and would love to read up on it more.

That is a common term in construction contracts but I can't say I've ever heard it in copyright law but then again I'm no expert
