I am about to quit my "Kiddie Job" as Rick refers to it. The next shift I work is Tuesday, and I will be giving them my 2 week notice then. After that planning on going 100% DJ moving forward. Looking at my schedule I think I am doing well enough to do so moving forward. I also just need to get out of working restaurants all together. After doing it on and off for 16 years I'm just done with it, and just need to move on.

Anyway, I was thinking about all the different jobs I have had since high school, and I realized I have actually had A LOT of jobs over the years. Probably more than I should have had. In high school alone, I had 3 jobs. Since High School I can add 13 more jobs on top of that. A total of 16 different places of work I have been employed at since 1998.

About to go into Full time DJ...I am wondering how long I will keep at it before getting another job, or if I can stick with this for the long term without having to get another job.

Congrats on quitting the kiddie job. Now for your question, let's see:

2. SunCoast Video at the Mall - Senior Year - About 5 months
3. Dominos Pizza - Senior year - About 4 months
4. Busser for 3 months at Perkins Restaurant, then turned to Server and then a Third Key manager, and Server. Was there for 2.5 years
(I worked 5 or 6 nights over night at a Dennys...Got immediately hired due to working with an overnight server there at Perkins. They needed help bad. I only lasted 6 nights because I couldn't work all night. I figured quickly that it wasn't for me. ...Good money back then working Midnight to 6:30 am. ...I don't count it as a job though since I was there for 6 shifts
5. Star Diner - Left after 3 weeks because they weren't giving me any hours

14. Express Gold - Gold Buyer 1 year
15. Ultimate Staffing Temp Agency - Call Center Incoming calls for a Liquor Distributor - Pay not bad at $15.75 per hour, but very demanding call center with stupid rules - Won't work in a call center again
16. Doubletree Hotel - 1 year 3 months (Still on the employee roster as an on call employee)
17. Texas Roadhouse - 5 months by the time my last shift happens.

Don't know where my career is headed, but I know I don't have interest in working for Liquor Stores, Restaurants, or Call Centers moving forward. I probably won't get another job for a while because the DJ biz income is GOOD this year, and hopefully will be next year as well.

Amway Distributor

I've also started owned and sold a couple of small business along the way besides

I was with Amway for about 10 months as an IBO. ...I was with them when they were QUIXTAR in 2006. Although the business isn't a scam, it was near impossible to get going and actually make money with. Also, what they didn't tell you is that the Rubies, Diamonds etc. ...All the guys at the top made their hundreds of thousands of dollars from the book and CD sales, and seminars. They didn't make their money with the actual business concept so to speak. After finding that out, and realizing I was blowing my money on the endeavor I quickly parted ways. The guy who recruited me tried to get me back for a while, but I am pretty certain after a while he gave up too. A lot of people were trying to make it in that business years ago...I haven't ran into anyone that is a part of it in recent years. I remember blowing my money and drinking those energy drinks all the time to get my PPV above 200 so I can get some sort of small check in the mail lol.

I was in twice. Once in the early 90's and I didn't make a dime actually I lost a bit that time. The second time was the late 90's early 200o's and I did pretty well I was close to being a Direct Distributor but it's very hard to hold your network together and it's alot more than the 5-15 hours they suggest you put in to the business if you want to make any real money.

If you had an income you could live on and worked the business 40+ hours you could possibly do OK but to work a full time job to support yourself and build it is almost impossible

Pre High School: paperboy and worked in a fruit/veggie market.
High School: Worked half the school day as part of a work co-op program at Vo-Tech.
Worked two drafting jobs after High School. Also when I started working for the radio station.
Started full time at the station about 1984, and was there until December 2014.

Mke, I didn't know you quit at the radio station. Was it time to let go, and move on?

Also, that is amazing that you were at the same station for 30 years.

Cool thread! I'll join in.

Before high school:
I had a paper route for about a year and worked evenings at a local pizza shop for 3 hours per night.

High school years :
Worked as a parking attendant for a garage. Started DJing for money, no more hobby.

After high school:
College courses at night. This lead to an opportunity to work at Merrill Lynch as summer help, then they brought me in full time. Stayed there for 11 years.

Charles Schwab opportunity came up and I remained there for 7 years. I was laid off in 2007.

Always did DJ work on the weekends from 1991-20now.

Federal Express for the last 7 years and still spinning the beats currently.
