Alto Speakers

They make mid grade speakers .. so yes, better than some and not as good as some others 
They seem to be a decent value for the money .. I don't know anyone who has them to know how they will last. I heard the "Black" line at DJ Expo and they sounded similar to the lower end EV boxes nearby.

Powered at that point will be a severe compromise. If it were me, I might look for a pair of used Mackie SRM450s. I sold a pair last year in good shape for about $450.
The used Mackies were $225 each .. $450 for the pair. I think you can find similar deals that will sound better (assuming you can hear them first) than a new $250 powered speaker, where you'd be looking at Alto, Behringer, American Audio, etc.
No idea .. I only have the Yorkville Unity series and have heard just a few of the larger tops/subs.
Buy quality stuff fromm the beginning and you won't regret it. Compromise and not only would you be sorry but you can possibly be negatively judged for your choices. Crap speakers at the best price still equals crap speakers! This is my opinion. YMMV
The NX25 are a nice speaker but IMO not enough power for most places that I play. I have 4 NX55 that fit the bill nicely and they sound even better with a sub
Stay the FUNK away from any Alto speakers! They are junk. I have a friend that has them and he was doing a block party once and needed to call me to use 1 of my Yamaha speakers. He was in a spot and one of them blew on him. When I went into GC one of the salesmen I know tried to get me to buy some Alto speakers and I wouldn't even waste my time listening to them. I had some real cash to buy some real speakers that I would be proud to say I owned. Remember this golden rule. You pay for what you get. When I saw how much they were selling those speakers for I knew they were junk.
Buy the real thing and be done. I've noticed you said you're getting back into DJing and looking to buy all this gear. Just some advice please. Do you have gigs lined up that will help pay for this gear you're buying? I ask that because I made that mistake and it got me in big trouble. I understand it's an addiction we have. I just had to learn to watch out for my addiction and not let it control me.
