Steve has kids, oh my, I can't get thoughts of mini-me out of my head. :)

Just kidding of course.

Ray J.

They both seem to have inherited the gene set that includes hair.

It's not evil. You are.

Not sure -- you'd have to ask the fallen Angel to see if I'm on his list...

So anyway, I just checked my working music folder (if you recall, I cherry pick the songs I most likely will play). So the folder has about 1 thousand and 50 songs, all ripped at 320 bps, by yours truly. Size comes in at 7 gb total.

So let's say I decided to double that. That brings us up to 14 gb or there so.

With a thousand or so songs, maybe 2,000, I can do any gig on the planet. Now since I generally do not take requests (unless some coin gets deposited in my pocket), what's the point of burdening my lappy with all that junk? I'm not likely to play more than 60 songs at a gig.

After you play a couple tunes while reading the crowd, you can easily figure the direction you need to go in. Once you see the toe tapping, or finger drums, you know you have the right thing going. Then it all clicks together. I think it's important to be part of the crowd yourself.

You can also steer people in different directions -- learned that from my herder doggy and the goats ;)

Yes .. but no one said they could only be used to backup laptops. My laptop can be backed up onto a 500Gb drive with room to spare. My desktop can not. The 3Tb drive isn't a portable .. it's just an external. That and if one plays more than beer and gin joints, a larger repertoire of music is needed .. especially if one is comfortable taking requests.

I like beer and gin joints -- the cash flow is good :)

And no, I'm not always comfortable to taking requests. If I have a show planned out, I'm going with it (recall I am a musician first), DJ second.

Go to a concert, walk up on stage and ask for a request from Mick Jagger... ;)

If you ever want, I will take you on a tour of some of the local cool places in the mountains. You have to drive though, because I always have a beer in my hand.

Lake Minnewaska, Mohonk maountain, New Paltz et. all. Heck, I could even show you the way to Hunter mountain for Oktoberfest. If you decide to come -- bring beer and some bourbon.

Ya know Rick, one of these days I may take you up on that. The more I hear from you, the more I want to meet you.
