Not sure -- you'd have to ask the fallen Angel to see if I'm on his list...
So anyway, I just checked my working music folder (if you recall, I cherry pick the songs I most likely will play). So the folder has about 1 thousand and 50 songs, all ripped at 320 bps, by yours truly. Size comes in at 7 gb total.
So let's say I decided to double that. That brings us up to 14 gb or there so.
With a thousand or so songs, maybe 2,000, I can do any gig on the planet. Now since I generally do not take requests (unless some coin gets deposited in my pocket), what's the point of burdening my lappy with all that junk? I'm not likely to play more than 60 songs at a gig.
After you play a couple tunes while reading the crowd, you can easily figure the direction you need to go in. Once you see the toe tapping, or finger drums, you know you have the right thing going. Then it all clicks together. I think it's important to be part of the crowd yourself.
You can also steer people in different directions -- learned that from my herder doggy and the goats
