I am in the process of getting a Laptop for my DJing
Dell 15z Ultrabook -no touch screen
Window 8- i3 processor
6 GB ram
500 HD / 32 sdat
8x DVD/RW
Intel graphic 4000
3 usb / 1 usb share power
HDMI / RG 45
bluetooth
wifi
3 yrs mcafee
Is their any other specs I need
should I order this

Why?

Spend money on sh_t you don't need. Do you need 8 gb of ram, or maybe 16. How much can Windows utilize?

4 gb is about your max -- anything over that is a waste of your time and money.There is only so much address space available.

If you have more insight into Windows internals -- I would love to hear it...

With an integrated graphics card, having 8Gb of RAM helps, especially if you use the laptop for video at times. Windows 32 bit may have a 3+Gb limit .. Windows 64 bit is much larger.

Are you planning on storing your music on the laptop or will you be using a external HD? I ask this because what happens when you fill up the 500 gigs of memory?

I have used over 1 1/2 TB of space on my 2 TB external HD. I also would recommend getting a back up for your music just in case something happens to your music on your main drive. You'll have the other one to use in case of an emergency.

As for your original question I think that machine should do fine unless you plan on using it to do video. If you're looking to do that too then I would suggest using 2 different laptops. One for DJing and the other for video. I would also suggest that you use this laptop solely for DJing. That's what I do.

I got this particular laptop because i wanted a laptop that could easily handle not only dj'ing but also mixing HD videos and HD video editing/rendering. I customized mine with 2 hard drives - i have a 1 terabyte hard drive AND a 750 Gb Hard drive installed so i don't have to use external hard drives. Plus, if you do plug in an external device the USB 3.0's are nice and with 16gb of ram and 3gb of dedicated Video memory you shouldn't have any issues running ANYTHING

That is a powerful machine. Congrats.That is the way I buy my Laptops. Full available power and it will outlast 2 - 3 of the regular off the shelf machines by three times the time. My 2006 Special Order Laptop still runs and if it was not for the fact that I wanted a Laptop with HDMI plus a bigger screen and backlit keyboard which I bought last year, I would still be using it. I guess if one is purchasing their equipment as an Investment, they can see their ROI but if one is making a purchase for a Hobby it is often times difficult to justify higher costs.

Yea, you're knowledgeable and perhaps, technically, you have a point. But with all due respect, you're wrong. More ram, in general, does help performance and each new version of Windows seems to require/use more and more. Ram is entirely cheap, so there's no reasonable justification for not putting in the max on a new machine.

Big issue with that scenario -- Windows may use some of it for some dumb purpose, but your DJ software is likely compiled as a 32 bit app for backward compatibility purposes.

I use the 64 bit version of Win 7 -- even WMP and IE Explorer are compiled as a 32 bit versions, along with most of their DLLs. They do not have access to that additional memory addresses.

Windows may a bit faster, but your app will not.
