These stands are heavy duty and allow for great ventilation. Main Link: http://store.roadreadycases.com/dyn_prodlist.php?k=224582

I use these two: However they are both mounted by clamps to the vertical back of my Rolling rack and sits over my Live Mixer:

We've got a Hyperstation as well.

I've bought a few different version of laptop stands. The problem I've run into is they either weren't stable, were going to be a pain to haul around and would add too much time to the setup. I also think there's going to be a tendency to have cables hanging loose from those shelf-type units. I've got a couple of SKB folding rack trays but on my main rig, I'm just putting rack filler into the top portion of my DJ capsule and set the laptop there. It adds zero setup time, zero hauling issues and is totally stable.

With Anna being 5' tall we had to go with the laptop stand. Anything mounted onto the rack would be too tall and she couldn't see over.

Rick, the second pic in the first post should work for you with or without the Mousepad and HD shelf. It would look like the one in post #2 except the clamp would be a vertical mount (Back of your case) instead of a horizontal mount. Two Knob Screws is all it would take to secure it. This would free up the rack spaces in your rack case on the top. The laptop would then sit over the whatever is under it.

Have you ever considered putting a Locking drawer in the empty space in the front? Line it with foam and you can use that to transport your laptop or use it to place Mics accessories. Looks like you have two rack spaces available. Here is my Drawer that I lined with pull out foam. (I have since swapped out the mixer on top).

Thanks but the setup I'm using works fine for me. I actually have a locking drawer sitting in the garage now but don't want to add yet another 12-15 pounds to an already heavy capsule. I have a plastic tool case that rides in my cable box and it has lots of compartments for mics, adapters, pot (just kidding), etc. Of the laptop stands I've seen, I like the fold-up SKB the best and have 2 of those for my alternate capsules. I don't use them on my main one because of the weight and they lift the laptop into my field of vision. This current config is just the right height.

Make one of these...

While I might display something on a cardboard stand, I would be very careful to apply pressure in the wrong direction and collapse it all.

You know I am joking......

Hey Canute, didn't you have a barbeque grill that you were using for a laptop stand?
Nope! Whoever told you that must think you are quite gullible! :hello2:

My partner gave me the one on the bottom to use and I hated it. Not the best made stand. You have to really make sure the screws are very tight on it and the laptop to me was really too heavy for that thing. I use a case with a built in laptop stand. That works much better for me. I'll post a picture later as I must get ready to go.

The one on the Bottom. I hear many people saying that and all I have to say is that it is operator error on those people's part. My Laptop is an XPS 17" screen and it is a beast. That laptop is very sturdy but then again I do not use the bottom plate. I mount it on the back of my rack vertically with clamps (provided). The top "Hinge" actually have locking sections and once you find them you just tighten the screws and it holds in place just fine. My only issue with it is that it sits a bit far back on my rack so I have to lean over to type something. See Here:

The one on the Top: It is an absolute delight. I have it positioned where i can pull it all the way forward and then swivel it where it faces me diagonally. To type something, all i have to do is slightly turn my body. See here:
