I said to "some" if you are not among that group then why worry. Answer this question..if you went to lets say a business function and someone asked you where you worked, what would your first answer be?

I'm doing a bar gig this Friday in Orange, NJ again. The DJ who plays there has another gig that night and I'm taking his place that night. For me it's not about the money when it comes to doing bar gigs. For my level of talent and equipment I bring they won't pay me what I'm really worth. I'm doing it because I don't have a private gig that night and I can make some gas money. Also it keeps me with being exposed. Besides they like when I play in this bar and the bar is fairly a good place to play most nights.
For me even if a bar were to pay me $300.00 it wouldn't be worth it if I don't feel it's a comfortable place for me to be. I'm not putting down anyone who plays in bars. They can be OK if in the right place. I just won't play in any bar to make some money.

I've seen pics of places you would play, I'd hate to see the places you wouldn't.

To tell you the truth lately I have played in just this one bar. Now it's a very small place but over all a nice place to play. I also might be playing there again on 5-31-13 if I don't have a private gig come up.
My partner used to be the one desperate make some money. So all someone had to tell him they need a DJ to come and play. At that time it didn't to him what the place was like. He's learned his lesson since that time to be careful where he plays at and for who.
For me basically I'm burned out playing in a bar. Now if an opportunity came along that I felt good about I would try it out. What I like to do is check a place out to see what kind of people are allowed to come in a place. Now if I feel it's a crowd I don't feel comfortable with or I don't feel I can play for then I move on.
I heard about a DJ down that way by the name of "Shuckie Darn" I believe he works in Potosi, Wi area...lol
