I was given a suggestion to use the American DJ Mega Bar 50's inside the new lighted facade I just bought. When I went on Google and saw that light I was thinking this light could be used for up lighting. My thoughts were that this light using it for up lighting would mean you would need less lights to use instead of the traditional par cans used for up lighting. What are your thoughts? Is this a good or bad idea?

Without a strong photographic representation of how 8 bars out performs 24 puck-like fixtures (especially with multicolor static lighting), gotta agree with Mssr. Ryan^.

More fixtures out-sells fewer fixtures in practically every case.
Not necessarily. Wide and powerful washes/Uplights can be spaced out to give the room enough illumination that it would take less to achieve the desired effect. I know most DJs don't use these but for instance if you had some of these you won't need as many! Look at the auto slide show: http://www.iluminarc.com/casestudy/ashford-estate

By the way this Company is a division of Chauvet. Similar to how Elation is to ADJ

Yes, I agree but that wasn't my statement.

I regularly go up against the "big dog lighting companies" who will pitch 10 or 12 fixtures. Their fixtures are more powerful and have wider coverage. The fact is, every single time I've ever told a bride "20 fixtures" when she'd been hearing "10 fixtures", you can see it click. I've yet to be out-sold, that I'm aware of, by fewer fixtures. Whether or not I do a better job than them is subjective. I believe I hold my own, at least according to the schedule.

I learned from the association that each fixture should sell for $40.00 and $45.00 for DMX. So let me ask Rick and others. What do you sell each fixture for?

I don't sell per-fixture. I sell in batches of 10 ($350). A batch of 10 is what I call a "baby uplighting setup". 20 seems to be the sweet-spot for most events. I also tell clients that I generally plan on 10 fixtures per 100 guests. On the job this past weekend, it was contracted for 20 (standard pkg) but I put out 40, mainly because it's a premium venue in my local area and because of the event mgr whom I've worked with before.
