There are advantages and disadvantages to having the two units combines as one. If there is a malfunction then you remain with none while it is in for repairs. If you have two separate units and one goes bad, you still have one left. The weight would be heavier for two combined. More than likely it will require Trussing for best Install.
The regular speaker stands/tripods may not be sturdy enough to support the Dual. A steel lighting stand would be best. When those things are moving they tend to shake the stand/tripod.
Steve says they check in at 18 pounds. My JBL speakers are 60 each and do just fine on a speaker stand.
Less weight means less shake when they are moving.
And I'd bet the time and money and hassle they save by being together,
will far out-weigh any problems should one go bad and need repair.
Besides, you don't have to take the time to program them separately...they work together.
