Pimp & Hookers Ball

Now granted I'm in a different situation where my wife does the DJing with me, so bear that mind.

As a themed party, it's perfectly acceptable, heck the frats around here do it once a semester or so and with a good degree of success.

Bringing a wife who doesn't go out to the gigs, you have to stop and think about her thoughts on the matter. Some women find the idea of "pimps and ho's" extremely offensive and as such don't want their husbands participating in an event that is seen as derogatory to women. I understand the argument of "it's a business event," but the wife does have a say in the business, even if she isn't a business partner. If the income from the dj business goes towards paying the bills or putting food on the table, then you bet your arse the wife has a say in the business.

Marriage is an equal partnership in all aspects, respecting your spouse's opinion is just one aspect. It's not so much seeking permission as asking are you cool with this idea. Once again it may be her husband's business, but, it's her image, and her family's image that is going to that "pimp and ho's" party.

Maybe if you had included your ex-wife as a partner in life and in buisienss you might still be married. It is clear to me that you do not respect women in general, much less a wife. You reap what you sow.

So do some men.

You do not know anything about my personal life and I do not have to explain it to anyone. All I have to say is that none of this had anything to do with me and my ex wife breaking up. What makes you think I don't respect women? People dressing up in costumes at a Party is offensive!!! Now I have heard everything. It is no wonder that feathers get ruffled so easily on this Forum.

OK then, this question is to directed to anyone but especially to Wes, Mike and Rick Ryan. If you had a contract to DJ a Themed Birthday Party, Anniversary, Reunion or whatever and you had no knowledge of the Theme itself, what would you do if people started appearing dressed in Pimp & Hooker Gear. What would you do? Would you even tell your spouse when you got home.

BTW do you even know what is P&H Gear. A Guy wearing a Pin Striped Suit and fancy shoes & Hat can be classified as Pimp gear. A woman wearing a sexy dress with fishnet hose and spike heels can also be classified as Hooker gear. What is so offensive about that? If that is offensive I guess ya'll must never go to the beach or lake or a swimming pool. LOL

It's one thing to find out when you get there. It's another to organize it. I did a 'decades' costume party just two weeks ago. One guy looked just like Snuggie Bear from Starsky & Hutch. I can't help that. But I sure can choose not to throw a P&H party.

I'm curious about something. If your name is associated with this type event, do you think you might be loosing potential clients who might find out. That was my wife's very first question when I asked her about her thoughts on this.

I don't believe I would ever do a themed event that I had no idea what the theme was. Business 101.

He doesn't care. He is never wrong. The sooner we all learn this, the better he can make ours lives.

I am still waiting for one of you naysayers to tell me what is the difference between seeing someone wear a Pimp Suit or a Sexy Ladies outfit vs someone wearing a Hawaiian outfit.

I guess those who are against the P&H Theme Party would never do a Beach Party or Pool Party either since more skin is liable to be shown. Oh well! I wish that there were more DJs like y'all which would leave more Gigs open to DJs who could care less as long as they are being paid good money. All the years I have done similar Parties, Naked wrestling Bouts, Naked Weddings etc I have yet to have a potential client tell me that they won't hire me because of that.

Keep that Non Profit Business Going, your strategy is working well for you! ;)

Please tell me, what is there to be right or wrong about this? Did I ever say someone was wrong or that I was right? Get your facts straight before spouting! ;)

There is a difference. While I might consider a party where everybody dressed up like little kids .. if it was called a Pedophile Ball, I most certainly would not.

I will .. and I appreciate the support. You keep up the multiple part-time gigs too.

You get beat up because you're a moron who would try to charge your personal friends for coming to your own retirement party. Canute is promoting a public event, for pay. Working for clients, for pay is great. You should try it sometime.
No you're the moron. I never charged any one a thing to come to that retirement party. That is what the restaurant needed to have the party there or they wouldn't let it happen. Remember their job is to make money and that's why they not me charged for the party to have it in their venue. Like I said if you paid attention I had nothing to do with it but show up. I had absolutely nothing to do with the planning of that event at all.

Besides I was busting Canutes chops and by the way Canute trust me I'm not scared of you at all. So do like the Rock says just bring it.

I am amazed! Tell me something I don't already know. Can we say bad analogy?????????

I think it's a very fitting analogy.
I knew you would! ;) I think it would take a very stupid person to have a themed event called a "Pedophile Ball". I have never heard of one. Do they do those in your neck of the woods? :laughing11::laughing11::laughing11::laughing11::laughing11:

No .. and they don't have Pimp and Hooker Balls either.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA You are so funny! Then y'all get mad when I say "You don't comprehend!" Tell me where I said the Party was for Sex and Prostitutes? Show me! I never said it was a Swingers Party, I never said it was real Pimps and Hookers attending. Just regular folk who happen to like to go to theme parties.

Tell me where I says that it DOES!
Read it again! You even colored it red and bolded the type.
I said that it will "IMPLY" sex and prostitutes.
I know and YOU know it does not have actual sex or actual hookers.

You keep arguing with married MEN about how this party is just a theme party.
We know what it is.
That doesn't make it "all better" with our wives.
I, personally am okay with it.
Why can't you just enjoy the fact that YOU don't have to worry about such issues in your life.

I am still waiting for one of you naysayers to tell me what is the difference between seeing someone wear a Pimp Suit or a Sexy Ladies outfit vs someone wearing a Hawaiian outfit.

This illustrates my point that you just don't get it. The issue isn't what people are or not wearing, it's about respecting your spouse. If a Hawaiian theme offended my wife then I wouldn't do it either. I've also had gay inquiries as well, and would've done them, but given that it offends my wife, I'll pass. I realize that you seem to think your divorce is completely disconnected but it's quite likely that your attitude and callous disregard towards her feelings likely played a role in it.

Now as for what would I do if they didn't tell me ahead of time. Aren't you the guy who's always harping on being prepared? How in the world could you consider not doing enough diligence that you wouldn't know the theme when you booked the event?

I said that it will "IMPLY" sex and prostitutes. Why should it imply in the first case? I guess insecure people/wives will have a problem with it.

I enjoy the fact that feathers get ruffled here very easily! ;) As I asked before, your wives would probably prevent you from doing a Bikini Beach Party too. That is a personal decision not a business decision. Maybe DJing isn't for some Married Men.

The question was not directed to me , it was directed to people like you who sometimes show up to play with no prior Site Visit etc. I know what I would do so don't try and turn the question around, are you a politician or something? So what would you do Mr. Ryan? Pack and go home? Stay and hope the missus does not find out?

Wives ARE inherently insecure.
Especially if they are married to someone who spends a lot of time as the center of attention.
If you had one, you'd know.

And what is wrong with using PERSONAL feelings to make a BUSINESS decision?
Wasn't it a PERSONAL decision that led us into this particular career to begin with?
