Now granted I'm in a different situation where my wife does the DJing with me, so bear that mind.
As a themed party, it's perfectly acceptable, heck the frats around here do it once a semester or so and with a good degree of success.
Bringing a wife who doesn't go out to the gigs, you have to stop and think about her thoughts on the matter. Some women find the idea of "pimps and ho's" extremely offensive and as such don't want their husbands participating in an event that is seen as derogatory to women. I understand the argument of "it's a business event," but the wife does have a say in the business, even if she isn't a business partner. If the income from the dj business goes towards paying the bills or putting food on the table, then you bet your arse the wife has a say in the business.
Marriage is an equal partnership in all aspects, respecting your spouse's opinion is just one aspect. It's not so much seeking permission as asking are you cool with this idea. Once again it may be her husband's business, but, it's her image, and her family's image that is going to that "pimp and ho's" party.

Now I have heard everything. It is no wonder that feathers get ruffled so easily on this Forum.
