Wondering what version of "Rocky Top" you guys tend to use if its requested.

I had a request for it, but realized i didnt have it. So while looking into it, I see theres many versions.

The one that i remember hearing the most had a female singer, Which i'm guessing is Lynn Anderson

Whats your take on it ?

Osbourne Brothers & Conway Twitty

Osbourne Bros. is the only version I will ever play.

I remember years ago not having this song & got my azz ripped royaly by customers that said "How can you be a mobile DJ & NOT have Rocky top???"

Yep, the Osborn Bros original is what most audiences expect. I have a few remixes of the track but only ever played the original version.

Don't feel bad for getting read the riot act for not having this track. Unless you're into older Bluegrass music, you can be forgiven for not having it. :)

Fred, If you live in my hood you better have this track.:) Especially if the University of Tennessee wins a big game. They want to hear it over and over and over. This is probably the single most important song in my libarary. No kidding.

I lived in the hill country of Virginee for 18 years. Started DJing in '93 and it didn't take long to realize that Bluegrass music was a necessity. I played Rocky Top at more shows than I didn't... even the middle school dances. Grandpa Jones' Mountain Dew was another popular one. :)

Conway Twitty did it? Gotta get that! I always use the 1996 remix of the Osbourn version that was released by CDX.

I was familiar with the song before i had the request... And was pretty suprised that i didnt have it.. one of those good ones that slipped through the cracks in my library.

I now have a couple versions. Including the original. So, that means i wont have a request for it for what? 5 years? Lol
