Anyone use Pay Pal Here for credit card payments?

Build it in or eat the fee, cost of business. When I buy audio equipment using my debit / credit card the seller does not tack on an extra fee. So either build it into your total cost or consider it a cost of business.

They may soon. :)

Question, do you guys ad the 2.75% to the price or eat it?

Eat it, of course. If your pricing is clipped that low, time to raise your prices. The convenience of taking credit cards has probably put 50 gigs on my books the past few years. By being able to take the payment, right then, I get the impulse buy that you'll often lose when you have to mail a contract.

Time to raise prices? This coming from someone who offers lights, pics, and text for $900. LOL

Hi point was if you are concerned that the $10-$15 charge for the payment was going to drastically cut into your profit margin, it is time to raise your pricing ;)

Cool, I can raise my rates on the new version of Rockit! I figure $12,000 is fair (I pay PP $348 + 30 cents (you can actually go down to 1.9%, if you do enough volume)), although you can go on the pay as you play plan, for $50 an hour (subject to internet availability, power outages, hurricanes and acts f God).

My other thought, was to give the software away for free, remove all the manuals and tutorials on the website, and charge $250 per hour for support.

Or, I suppose I could go and sell used cars...

what in the hell are you talking about? lol

So you're saying you charge premium prices and you're actually debating about tacking on a credit card convenience fee?
That is not what I comprehended from his reply. He is saying that you too may need to increase your Charges because for all the services you offer, your price is very low.

What I'm talking about, is what value are you adding to justify raising your rates?

Is eating the CC fee really going to hurt your profit margin?

Thanks for the advice but, respectfully, you guys don't operate within my market. You have no idea what the going rates are in Nashville. I just bumped my packages $100 at the first of the year. Getting a bit more pushback but hopefully will still be able to keep a full book this year. You guys run things the way you see fit and I'll keep moving along, slowly.

Rick you're obviously killing it where you are so keep doing what you're doing. My only point was yes you may lose some gigs but with a higher price point you could do less and make as much/maybe more than you do now. I don't know of anyone who offers what you do never mind for the price you do it for. All I can say is I'm glad you're not in my neck of the woods. You've raised the bar for the folks in Nashville. Sucks to be them lol

I was just explaining what he posted my friend.

While both are easy to use, inquire as to the delay in getting the money from them to you. PayPal is habitually slower, sometimes a full week.

I use PayPal for on-line payments (3% vig) as I can include a mini-contract in the comments field even PayPal can understand. For in-person transactions (2.75% vig swiped), Square has been a great resource. Square payments are transferred to my bank account in just a couple of days.

I do this exact same thing.

Every company I've used that charges a monthly fee to keep the rates low has added charges, PCI compliance charges, contracts, extra fees for certain cards, blah blah, so the total ends up being more than the 2.75 I pay square.

And yes, I build it into the fee.

I got my PayPal Here card reader the other day and it works fine with my phone, I could not get the Square reader to work but I will admit that I did not try real hard because I did not have time to monkey with it. According to the guy I talked to at Pay Pal the money is available immediatly after swiping the card using the Pay Pal MC Debit Card they are sending me and the funds are available for transfer to your back account with in 2 business days. We shall see how it goes

Why not just use the debit card that PP gives you?

I rarely transfer funds to my bank accounts -- the tax people can find it that way.
