Nice way of avoiding that one Canute. You also seem to make feeble attempts of implementing your vague understanding of the english language - unless of course, you are a professional english language teacher - actively teaching. Does this somehow excuse you - or make you a leader and all of us followers?

Regardless of what language you say it in, do you not think saying that would disrespect or offend someone - and in the event that someone felt offended, would you then tell them that because you don't believe that they understand the english language properly, it's their problem?
ROFLMAO :happy6:

Sorry but I can't believe that some of you have never heard of a thing such as a reunion party and people paying to attend. So what if it were you organizing this retirement party at $90.00 per person and 100 people are attending? That would cost $9,000.00. Would you foot that bill just to see old friends you haven't seen in years? Oh you could do that and then write it off on taxes next year. People do pay to come to such events. This is not a wedding where people are just invited and most know that they are expected to provide a gift to the couple getting married. Normally such gifts will either pay for all or most of the expense of the wedding.

We're not the organizers of this event. They are just having us there to provide a service for the event. No different then the inaugural celebration I mentioned in another thread. People were paying to come to that and the DJ gets paid to cover the event. What is the difference? Try to remember this that this restaurant where they are having this event is there for a reason. It there to provide a service which in return they get paid for and they should make a profit from. Ask yourselves this question. Besides loving to DJ why are you in business? Isn't it to make money doing something you love to do? Or you just love what you do and everyone gets you for free? So the restaurant sees a way to provide a service to make money. Are they wrong for doing so? How do you suppose they are to pay the people that are working there? If you were a cook there wouldn't you expect to get paid to cook the food? Or you would do it for free out of the goodness of your heart because you just love to cook? Get the point.

So if people are paying to attend, then you should be charging to show - this is in addition to audio costs.

Do what you do Mix...If it works for you and its legal then go for it.

Can you speak more on the tax right off you mentioned? I didnt know you could right off attending a party to reunite with friends?

I have to agree with Canute on this one -- Mix is out there in the ozone layer (or what's left of it - which might explain some things).

If you want someone to come and pay to see you, you need talent. Pushing the Sync button is not talent. Get a couple 1200's and learn to spin, without stealing music. If not, then learn to play a guitar, bass, drums, whatever.

BTW I, like Canute, couldn't care less about offending people (we do it to each other quite often as well). If my life revolved around being PC, then I would live in Mary Land or DC.

Ah, that's a good one but nevertheless, major fail. Sir Idiot, I did somewhere around 95+ weddings last year. I'm fairly sure that takes me out of rookie status and having the sense to punt a gig with red flags on it shows biz smarts. Something you'll obviously never have.

Obviously, I've nailed you hard enough that it even penetrated your titanium skull. You are a low-life and a thief and clubs and maybe ghetto kid parties are all you'll ever be able to do. Assuming of course that your fake "disability" doesn't actually become real and prevents you from hauling gear. 32" TVs? Are you kidding? Even 50", if used at any decent-sized event, is going to look small. 32", even your low-life hangs will laugh at the joke you are. You continue to amaze at the level of stupidity and clueless-ness that's possible in the human gene pool. Clue: You need to stop messing up Dan's good forum and move along. Your time here is done.

By the way, what's your website again?
First of all stop telling that lie that you did 95 weddings last year. You didn't do them personally. You had others that work for you to do them. How many did you personally do yourself? Not someone else and you making money off of their talent.

Now so you'll understand this idiot as you called me, we're not talking about sticking with using 40" screens. That just to start and in time we plan to upgrade. That's what I've done in the past when it comes to gear. I've had other pieces of gear that I eventually sold because either I out grew the gear or decided to get something else that I liked better. My first CD player when I first came back to DJ was a Numark CDN 88. I later on bought 2 CDJ 800's and then I sold those. I now use the Denon DN MC 6000 and I love it. I used to use CD's and switched to something I said I would never do and that is a laptop to DJ with. I also never considered to buy any powered speakers. I eventually got talked into buying some powered tops and once I saw the ease of setup and how they rocked I then went and bought the matching subs. Get it. So we're not plan on staying with those screens. We just plan to use them to get us started down that road.

Oh sorry my bad. You started at the top you super great DJ never having to build up to things as you kept going. Oh no my bad. You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and everything was handed to you, you spoiled brat.

Mix, what are you gaining being on this Forum? For the love of God you are making yourself a Punching Bag. You must love abuse.:boxing:

Mix one last time. How much are you being paid for this job that you are bringing the free video too. As for the upgrading of the video screens. What people are saying is the 32 inch screens will look like crap and therefore will look bad to people coming to this party. They wil then go to a party where a DJ has 50 inch monitors and go with that person. If you do not have the means to do it right then why do it.

Hey Mix,

C'mon up to The Farm. You can help me clean the ditches, replace the well cover, clean out the sheds, etc.

I promise not to turn you in, and I'll feed you. Just don't bring your "partner" and his gal pal.

Mix,
Any way you look at it Rick Ryan is running a successful multi-up business. The pictures are found in other posts in this forrum and they're in focus. But the most important part of all this is he has a business plan which is something essential and you have refused to do it even with free help from a successful business owner (Jeff Romard).

And now the video component. I run 2, 50" screens and if I wanted to do a part in a large hall I would prefer a 6'" TV as a minimum. But the most important thing in all this is a legal library of music and videos.

Ijust busting Ricks chops. I know he meant he booked 95 weddings last year. That's very impressive. I posted in the other thread about that wedding he turned down that my big issue has to do with not the bride that couldn't make up her mind but the person working at the venue that turned the power off while the DJ had the gear still on and running. I wouldn't want to work at a venue that a idiot working there would do such a thing. I take it this venue isn't some cheap VFW hall but a nice venue that people are spending some nice money to have their event in this place. That to me not only is showing disrespect to the DJ but the client as well who paid to have their event in that venue.

That to me is more of an issue then a bride that her wedding is 18 months away and can't decide what she wants exactly for her wedding. Most people have never booked a DJ and don't know what to look for. It's all about getting the right DJ to do the job for the event that someone is having. Not all DJ's are the right fit for all events.

I think the data going in and the internal brain functionality have no correlation.

Could you explain that further -- I'm only on step 11 (or was that beer 11). Sh_t, I think I have Alzheimer disease, or I'm retarded.

I think I am retarded now, because I've been reading posts from someone in Joisey, who pays to do gigs...

Naw mate I'm not bullying the bully's I put them in there place and teach them some respect

You obviously place more importance to your own words than do others.

Similarly then, unless you have proof that someone actually needs their head examined, you can be held for libel - irregardless of what one has posted.

Just for the amusement of carrying the silliness forward, a libel suit would require Mix to actually PAY an attorney to file suit. Even if he could convince somebody to take his money and file suit, and let's say that I didn't show up and he got a default judgement, I'm fairly certain that a New Jersey judge wouldn't have reciprocity with Tennessee to actually be able to force collection/garnishment. But who knows, maybe he has enough extra tax refund money to go for it. Oh wait, he's gotta buy those massive 32" TV screens with that.........

Ijust busting Ricks chops.

My chops are not busted. You failed again.

I know he meant he booked 95 weddings last year.

I booked and managed 95-97 weddings last year. I personally worked somewhere around 55-60 (guesstimate).

That's very impressive.

"Impressive", nah. "Worked my butt clean off" is probably more accurate. I worked everything I personally could and was fortunate to have enough overflow that it kept several other really good DJs in work. I've already had calls from 4 of them, asking for dates this year so it must have been a decent arrangement. I most certainly did sell every single event, gathered all timeline requirements, provided gear (where needed), and managed each job, making certain that the right personnel were in place to do the job. BTW, I did that while maintaining a regular FT job in addition.

I posted in the other thread about that wedding he turned down that my big issue has to do with not the bride that couldn't make up her mind but the person working at the venue that turned the power off while the DJ had the gear still on and running.

You are wrong. What I said was I had someone wanting to book me for June, 2014 at a PITA venue. Out of the gate she was being overly specific on her requirements and I judged her to be a high-maintenance client. Consequently, I took a pass on the gig and will book that date with a prospect and not at a PITA venue. Your lesson for the day: This is a prime example of a BUSINESS DECISION.

Now while I'm on a roll, let me help you understand the concept of "theft". Last night, I went to the grocery store. In the buggy I picked up was an umbrella that someone had forgotten. Using your logic, I could've rightfully taken that umbrella, since it was obviously left there by someone who didn't care. I left it in the buggy. Had I taken it, that would be called "theft". I would have been taking something that did not belong to me. In regards to your own actions, you stated that you paid someone $20 to "tell me where the stuff was at". You tried to defend it here, saying that it was discarded equipment that the owner no longer wanted. Unless the dude you paid $20 to was the rightful owner and gave you ownership of the property in exchange for $20 you STOLE it. Yea, kinda hard to wrap your head around I know, given your questionable character, but do try. Better still, just go away. You're stinkin up the joint.
