Has anybody used wedding.com?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!

I've been checking out wedding.com and like what I've seen from them. I was thinking of signing up with them. You can sign up for 6 months for less then $120.00. If you choose the six months it brings the cost down to $19.99 a month and if you don't get a booking after 6 months they will give you 6 months free. You must contact at least 10 brides a month to get this offer. I was just wondering how many DJ's on here have used wedding.com and what do you think of it?

I'm just sick of Wedplan. It used to be good but lately it's become nothing but a way for them to make money and you get taken. That's for me. All i see on there mostly nowadays are the brides looking for a DJ to do their wedding generating their lost price of $500.00-$750.00. The leads on there are mostly terrible. Just wanted to get opinions about wedding.com.

Mix, FORGET about all these online services like wedplan, wedding wire, ect. You need to go knock on doors. Visit every catering hall, country club, ect in your area and talk to the manager. Leave your card an do your best to leave a good impression. When you run out of venues, start over and do it again. But don't over do it and pester people. The managers that run the venues are the best place to receive quality leads. They need to know who you are and be comfortable to refer you. This all takes time, don't expect the phone to start ringing tomorrow.

It amazes me how your so eagar work a bar gig for a $150 but act like $500-$750 is beneath you for a wedding reception.

I know I'm just wasting my time typing this because you NEVER listen to anybody who trys to help you.

I agree with Paul. Weddingwire completely over-saturates the top tier advertising so your ad will never been seen. Gigmasters is for people looking for $200 DJs only, as is Eventective.

I can tell you, we have been on theknot for under a month now, and have booked more jobs through that in that time (at our top tier rate) than we did with any of the three I mentioned in 3 years.

Do what Mike said, google those words and see what appears. If you are looking to advertise on a site, those are the ones you need to look at.

The issue is about 2 things with Wedplan. They used to give you good quality leads and those leads today are not as good as they used to be. Alot of those leads are out of state and looking for someone close to them. The $500.00-$750.00 deal is that a lot of them aren't really looking to spend $500.00. That's just the way the site is setup. So in all reality they are looking for the cheapest DJ they can find period. So you're not going to in most cases come close to getting one of them to spend $600.00. Never mind $750.00 and they expect the world from you. They want too much for the price they want to pay.

I got a lead where they wanted to spend i think it was $600.00 or $650.00 and wanted uplighting. When i told them how much the uplighting would cost that got them to move on. The cost for 10 uplights is $400.00 and for DMX $450.00. They thought they could get a DJ and uplighting for the price they wanted to pay. They were acting like they were doing me a big favor willing to pay that much. They wouldn't hear that all you will get here for that price is equipment with the DJ. I even told them i could throw in some nice lights that i use to make things look nice instead of no lights at all which is dull. They wouldn't budge and i kept it moving wishing them good luck.

I'm a DJ that can play in certain bars or do a wedding. That means being able to adjust to different situations. Different events means different ways to make the event a success on the DJ's part.

You must have some great meds. Your frequent posts indicate you only are a cheap bar jockey. Nothing wrong with that, so you might as well embrace it.
 
Wouldn't a wedding paying $500-$750 be better than nothing?

You need to get some weddings under your belt at reasonable prices before you can jump up to the top tier.

When I got back into the biz, it took me 3 years to get where I am charging today (which is in the mid/high end in my are).....before recently, it was $450-$500 just to get my company out there. Now, we are pulling in between $725-$995. You can't just jump in and expect people to pay it.

Also, remember that he doesn't own uplights or any of the other extras that he offers to his clients. In essence, he's trying to sell the sizzle of a steak when all he's got is hamburger (and his partner, Hamburger Helper).

The pricing is high because he's just passing the buck (literally) to the person who can supply the extras.

Since I'm a nice guy Mix I'll tell you what...For $1 a day I'll setup and run your social media for you. I'll also require about $200 for some Facebook ads off the top. I GUARANTEE for that money I'll send enough people your way in 6 months to make you 10X your money back. If I cant, and you don't make the contacts I'll do the next 6 months for free. If I can we'll negotiate a price for the next 6 months.

Your total investment will be under $400 for the first 6 months. You can throw away your other paid ads so in the end it will cost you nothing
